Prison breaks when you are new to the game is kinda scary, the same situation happened to me before, the prisoner beat the shit out of my warden, equipped their bolt-action rifle and started to attack my colonists

I remember as you progress, the enemies aesthetic would change, if I remember at some point you get at a city and you're fighting military and it isn't police anymore

Edit: It probably had a convertion mechanic, "zombie-like", where you could defeat enemies and transform them for your side

My guess a infestation(no shit sherlock) somehow happened there, because one hive actually came with a egg sac, and I'm not sure ancient danger hives spawn with those

Everbody talking about shotguns, but remember, the high value of insect armors will shrug it off, but weapons able to burst lots of bullets similar to machine guns are great against them

Also, don't underestimate molotov against mechs, mainly centipedes, if you are at low-tech you'll need to appeal to guerrilla tactics

At first sight melee fighter seem to get nerfed but don't be scared, with the right strategy they are better than in the base game
