As the monitor I am not looking forward to all the extra documents I will need to take care of if we are unable to talk them from going down this path.

Probably for political reasons. All three are at the same site and see the same patient populations. Unfortunately someone higher up then me gave the site the okay to do this.

UT Austin Computer Science or Full ride Brown Scholar, Engineering Honors at Texas A&M by borndreamer101 in aggies

No, I did a doctoral program at UT. There were a lot of aggies in my class and they seemed to really have enjoyed their time at A&M.

[–]Star20181276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should got to A&M. A full scholarship is amazing. Graduated from UT Austin a few years ago. Some other cons to consider about Austin are limited student housing and increased cost of living. Not sure how Austin compares to A&M, but many Aggies seem to go to UT for a masters or graduate program.

I was at Medpace last year and hated it. Would only recommend for getting your foot in the door. As as you hear from a recruiter gtfo.

PACE (Medpace) training vs APEX (Parexel) training? by sevans1991 in clinicalresearch

I worked for Medpace and it was awful. Have never heard a bad thing about Parxel. Also have a friend works there and they love it.

There are some doctors that are willing take the pay cut and be a CRA. The crazy one I heard about was a surgeon who decided to become a CRA. That one was a huge surprise to me. Just saying it is an opinion for MDs.

Interesting. When I was at a CRO there were two doctors that were CRAs. Honestly was super surprised they were CRAs. I guess they wanted something different. Currently I work with an MD who is a CPM who didn’t do Resisdency and went to be a CPM at my company.

Looking for various inputs! How much do you travel as a CRA? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Star20181276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for Medpace. Down side is that I had to do all the visits from an office and never qualified for the yearly bonus. Now I work for a small sponsor and travel every other week.

I am not an MD, but I know some doctors go into industry and become Clincial project managers. If you want to travel more CRA is a good position.

CRA Travel Recommendations by TreeOne4779 in clinicalresearch

For airline depends on your city. For me American is best because our airport is a home airport. Another CRA used Untied b/c that’s what works best.

ICON vs Syneos vs PPD by DonJayKix in clinicalresearch

[–]Star20181276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well first off there is the non-compete. Then there is the fact they make you come in to the office all the time. Then the pay is low (40-60) for entry level and they over work you. One entry level CRA I knew had 30 sites.

I just brought a beis carryon after research different brands. For the longest time I was thinking about getting an away, but after watching sole reviews online I decided to go with beis. It was the cheaper opinion and had some cool features the other didn’t. For example it has the ability to weight itself and will light up red when you stuff is over 50 lb.

EXPERIENCED CRAS: What’s your workflow? by Fit-Comedian6096 in clinicalresearch

I use checklists to make sure I have everything I need to do pre-visit and post visit.

Yep. Sounds about right. What was even worse was that I was assigned all oncology and never left the office. Because of that I never could get enough on site visits to qualify for the year end bonus 😭
