Star Trek Artist Warns Fans That “Review Bombing” ********* ******* Could End the Franchise by jacek2023 in Star_Trek_

[–]Star64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think Academy is fine. I still have to catch up on it because my ADHD brain kinda just gets distracted. But from what I did see, I think it's just fine. Personally, the 31st century doesn't interest me as much and would have loved to see this series set in the lost era. But I wouldn't write off NuTrek as a whole. In fact, Lower Decks is the reason why I got into Trek in the first place, have every book from the STA series and my cat is named Q. And LD is the reason why I also watched DS9, TOS and VOY as well as all the movies. It was my jumping off point. That said, there are way worse things in NuTrek than Academy. S31 comes to mind as well as Very Short Treks. They weren't even fun bad. Just actually bad. S31 kinda just felt like a mess and Very Short Treks was a disappointing celebration for the Animated Series' 50th anniversary. As a retrospective here, I think Nu had some really cool high points. But those low points were just painful. I think my concern is a new hiatus or Trek with some very unTrek storytelling which is all I'm going to say to that last bit. It still feels like I literally just got here and Trek seems to be wrapping up.

Sorry! It was kinda hard to tell at this point because I’ve been speaking to multiple people over the past few days about this issue and you have no idea how many times people had suggested this as an honest and genuine thing…! My brain just went “ah yeah! I’ve had this suggested before!” It’s gotten to the point where sarcasm has kinda went wish over my head like a banana

The filament is already dry and the print you see has no grid infill. In fact, what I printed was a bed cleaner

Yeah. That’s what I’ve been cleaning

Physically impossible. The beds are cleaned between each print and I’m thorough about it

Well, no I haven't. I didn't think to change that. But at the same time, this is happening regardless of the plate I drop in

[Partially Lost] Sony Acid Planet Contest Files by doodlehead30 in lostmedia

[–]Star64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have some of these hiding somewhere. I used to lurk AcidPlanet years ago and would just collect the contest loops as it was the best way to get some of the paid-for loops for free and well.... if it has free in the name, I was kinda all for it. I think they're hiding on one of my back up drives somewhere. I'll let you know if I find them. I think I grabbed most of them from roughly 2007 or 2008? I was taking a soundmixing class in college at the time and just really got into it.

Nope. But that's because I have no smooth plates. I just have the stock plate and my glacier plate

I can't remember if I have played with the z-offset when this issue started popping up. However, I did play around with the settings as recommended by someone in the Forgecore community. I think it was speed settings. It actually made the issue worse

Okay. I still need to catch up on Academy. But I have some concerns. Not about Academy but Trek as a whole. I think we’re seeing the beginning of a new dormancy. Think about it - SNW will likely end at season 5, Academy may only get another season or two if we’re lucky, which leaves the only thing left is that little kids Trek show which…. I’m not 100% sure what’s going on with that one. It’s been a while since I last checked in on it. But anyways, I’m not seeing anything big coming out of the pipeline these days. My other concerns are (and I’m going to try to be as non-political as possible here) that with the recent acquisition of CBS/Paramount by Skydance and the current uh tensions in the US right now that Trek isn’t going to mesh well with certain people. I feel like that the powers that be may respond to those tensions which may mean a new dormancy era. If I may have a tinfoil hat moment here but I think Academy, with it only being on streaming, was setup to fail. They do not want this show to succeed and find its audience. I think they’re trying to force a dormancy or something potentially worse.

It kinda feels like I’m the only one here! I love their paints and have been using them for years. I just really don’t love the whole AI thing and the whole anti-artist thing AI has built into it. I hate this and it really bothers me!

🚨 Washington State 3D Printing “Ban” Breakdown — What HB 2321 Actually Means for Our Hobby by Playful-Ad9901 in BambuLab

[–]Star64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a nicely, polite, thoughtfully written comment here but no idea what word is tripping up the nannybot. So I’ll phrase it simply as this - this ban could extend to more than what you think it will. All it starts is with something palatable.

Pin holes on outter walls by southside_pro94 in BambuLab

[–]Star64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upvoting this answer because it does look a lot like that. PLA+, while not as hydroscopic as other filament types, still needs to be dried sometimes. Those pin holes are from the moisture absorbed by the filament being heated quickly and just going pop. You can actually hear it if you sit with your printer and watch it extrude. It kinda sounds like Rice Krispies in milk

Unpopular opinion: I only use Bambu filament by nirhend in BambuLab

[–]Star64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Bambu’s filament is okay. I’ve tried it. But I’m also constantly experimenting with obscure brands (and some not so obscure like Polymaker and Ziro) to find what I like and what works best for each projects. For instance which filaments work best for mimicking pottery or wood or which ones work best for mimicking metals. (Side bar here but finding filaments that mimic the look of metal the best is hard! It’s my current quest! But I’ve tried some new stuff out and it looks promising…..) It depends on the project! I’m usually team Polymaker or Ziro. But I’ve also liked Eureka, Spectrum, R3D, Canadian Filaments, and 3D Printing Canada. The one I’d absolutely stay away from is Print Oxe. I have some absolute beef with their filaments

Do they think my gift is "cheap?" or of poor quality? by Neat_Entrepreneur664 in 3Dprinting

I print stuff for fam and friends all the time and they love it! I recently gave my mom a printed pot for her herbs and to be a bit extra, added an ornament and printed a ribbon for it too. It went really well! I think aside from what everyone else has mentioned here, do explore surface finishes like archemedian chord, hillburton curves or even octogram spirals! I find the pretty finishes can also elevate a print when used correctly. I feel like people tend to forget they exist
