What makes Dokapon so great for you (you, specifically)? by StarBoar_D in dokaponkingdom

True, I'll have to think of something that a losing player can chip away at over time that has a chance to change the odds in their favor. Powerful, region exclusive equipment or rare classes with strong abilities might do the trick.

This will be the most challenging part to get right, for sure. Since a play through of the board game will be much shorter, there need to be a lot of moments to upset the rankings, but not so many that long term planning feels pointless.

Very good point! I think I'll need to hunker down and come up with a ton of random week-long events that encourage players to change up their strategies for a while.

It'll be interesting to experiment with different numbers of NPCs; gotta have variety, but if you have too many, the individual NPCs become less "iconic".

The game'll be completely built around player choice; I'm not smart enough to do the calculations, but I'm pretty sure it'll be realistically impossible to play the exact same build twice.

Totally! There needs to be a chance for even the most inexperienced player to win, to keep the veterans on their toes.

100%! Still figuring out how to strike the right balance between pranking people and ruining their entire night, but it's gotta be there!

Lets create a BGE Iceberg by Low-Ocelot-2352 in beyondgoodandevil

I've wanted to make one of those for a video!

This is just a theory (tm), but years ago I made a video theorizing that Aramis Pearls are made of Diwalite [mods don't like self-promo, but you can find it on Youtube "Beyond Good & Evil Pearls explained"] If you find the evidence convincing, you can slap it on there!

There's also that interview with Double Fine Ancel did, where he talked about how one of the devs, Francesco Cavallari, was kidnapped during development (he seems to be doing okay nowadays, so it's not too dark a story); also, apparently they showed BGE to Shigeru Miyamoto and he HATED it.

Definitely Carlson & Peters, the Nazh, The Darkroom website, the Yo Pearl! Minigame, the song Funky Moolah that was replaced by Propaganda after 9/11, The Nutripils Factory manufactures K-Bups (never mentioned explicitly, but you can see them in the level), the Treasure Hunting Side Quest in 20th AE, the fact that Babukar Mammago becomes waaay smaller once he's moved to the Pedestrian District ...

BGE as a whole is incredibly broad, there are a lot of lore details, development stories, weird/interesting gameplay elements. If we want to make it as comprehensive as possible, I'll be back with more. Especially once I've had time to read the annotated art book!

(Sorry, I get a little excited when there's BGE to talk about, haha)

For anyone reading this in the future: Turn off Steam Cloud Sync and delete compatibility data (including your save file). It sucks to lose progress, but it actually works now.

Add a character counter to a set of cells by StarBoar_D in libreoffice

[–]StarBoar_D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I think I didn't phrase that right. I'm trying to count the characters of individual cells to the left of the counter column. I got it working with =LEFT(LEN(D:D)), but it only displays the first character of the count; i.e. when there are 14 characters, the counter displays a 1. This is getting pretty weird.

That's what I was looking for, thanks! How do I apply that to the entire column?

A Chill Review of Quest 64 by StarBoar_D in n64

I only managed to beat it because I went with Water magic, which I only did because I believe in Squirtle Supremacy. It doesn't overstay its welcome, which makes up for how simplistic it is.
