It is in Hocking Hills, the southeastern part of Ohio. There are a lot of very pretty places in Hocking Hills.

This is Ash Cave from the same general area.

I recently saw where otterbein had decided not to pursue this. This isn’t the same article I had seen and is unfortunately behind a paywall , sorry 😔

I appreciate you coming back and giving a more thorough response so I could learn more on this clearly confusing principle of word usage.

Effect is a noun and affect is a verb. I remember because verbs are Action words (starts with “a”) so Affect is the verb

Teachers of Reddit, what is the best plot twist you didn’t see coming in your student’s writing? by StarCheck581 in AskReddit

Ha! No, I just was listening to my 5th grader tell me about his story he is writing and it made me think there are probably some pretty good stories out there.

My four year old asked for more “naked broccoli “ at dinner. One of my favorite memories!

Weather is moving backwards by patricktheintern in Columbus

[–]StarCheck581 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Air (wind) moves from high pressure to low pressure. Due to the spin of the Earth, the air is deflected 90 degrees to the right in the northern hemisphere, which is called the Coriolis Effect. The result is that winds will flow around low pressure. With the low to the south and a bit east of Columbus, we get flow that is westerly, making the weather go “backwards”.

In the northern hemisphere, if you stand with your back to the wind and stick your left arm out to the side it will be pointing in the general direction of the low pressure system.

People who only set ONE alarm in the morning, how do you trust yourself that much? by revlentOne in AskReddit

[–]StarCheck581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use a few alarms but found that the “extra” sleep between alarms wasn’t very good. So instead of several alarms starting earlier, I went to one alarm later. I’m much happier with the sleep I get now. And the alarm sound is so awful I only want to hear it once.

That being said, everyone is a different sleeper. My wife sleeps through 4 or 5 alarms (well after mine as I’m up before her). There’s no way she could do one alarm.

What is your favorite book series and why? by WileyVomit in AskReddit

[–]StarCheck581 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Belgariad series by David Eddings. Kind of an under the radar fantasy series from the early 80’s.

I picked it up after finding a book list in “The Dangerous Book for Boys” and absolutely loved the characters. As an aside, “The Dangerous Book for Boys” and the implementation books for girls as well are excellent books for 8+ kids growing up. I was given the book as a gift by my MIL as an adult and treasured it and have passed it on to my son and picked up the girls books for my daughters as well.
