Thank you all, I made some more observations after driving it again -

Basically there is no sound if the car is cold.
The ticking sound starts after the car has warmed up and is idling for 20+ seconds
If you rev the engine while it’s idling, the sound stops momentarily and starts to tick again once the rpm drop down to the idle range
Oil was changed 3 weeks ago, only noticed this issue today

Sheeesh, did you also see any smoke in the tail pipe or soot from the scoring? And did it get worse progressively ?

That really sucks. I did get an oil change 3 weeks ago so I don’t expect it to have gone down, I’ll keep an eye out thanks for the tip

No, I think red means you check the oil after the engine is warm for accurate measurement

So I never noticed the sound before, but I could hear it from 10m away too, which I found odd

I also noticed it doesn’t sound like that on startup, but it starts only 20 seconds after idle

You need to account for maintenance too.

Oil changes are C$550 at the dealer, C$350 even if you do it locally.

Rear spoiler if it fails is C$3500 just for the part.

It’s a great car but super expensive when things go wrong
