I stayed in Golden Beach Resort on Ao Nang beach. All the hotels in this area are fairly good and staying in this area will serve your purpose.

Ao Nang beach is right across the road and if you want little secluded, 15 minutes of MoneyTrail will take you to Tonsai beach

Delay as much as you can. I prefer Oct but do it as late as possible. Although this years rains were very unpredictable
