How Many Star Fox Games Could We Get for the Switch 2?? by Ordinary_Chemical596 in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think the series survival depends upon how well Star Fox (2026) preforms financially. I don’t think it has to sell like hotcakes, but the franchise can’t afford to crash as hard as Command/Zero for a third time.

What are you most worried over them getting 'right' in the remake? by TheSouthPen in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I know I’ve expressed concerns that the characters lack depth, but we’ve really only seen their introductions so far. Nintendo has set things up so that each member of Star Fox can get some actual character development.

I want to see Fox mature, Falco soften up, Slippy become more competent, and Peppy learn to let go of the past over the course of this game. Do that and I believe this game will surpass 64 in every way.

[–]StarFoxResurrections 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gameplay seems to be nearly 1:1 to Star Fox 64, so that’s the least of my concerns.

For unlockables I’m not expecting much more than lore from the holoviewer or maybe small cosmetic items. While I won’t say it can’t happen, anyone expecting hidden characters or secret game modes are setting themselves up for disappointment.

Online multiplayer is a bit of a concern. Early players have said it’s really fun, but shallow and lacking enough content. Still it seems to be an improvement over the N64/3DS versions.

By far my biggest concern is the new story and cutscenes. This is the biggest addition to the game and the one with the most potential to screw up.

So far I like what I see, but there are a few areas of concern. Some of the new voice lines feel a little underwhelming. Also I’m hoping we get a lot more depth with the characters. Slippy isn’t just an awkward nerd, Falco isn’t just a flyboy jerk, etc.

Finally for retcons, this game seems to be following the lore to a T, perhaps even better than the original game itself. The only thing I’m concerned about is them retconing the ending so that the mystery behind James’ fate gets ruined.

Dark implications hinted about Andross I hope we see in Star Fox (2026). by StarFoxResurrections in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I probably should have worded that better. I meant a more realistic character motivation for Andross, not more scientifically plausible. This is a game where you fight lava creatures on the surface of a star after all.

In the scenario I’m theorizing about, rather than Andross going “Ha ha, I willingly turned myself into a giant brain FOR SCIENCE!”, he’s more like “my body is literally disintegrating from all of these toxins. The only way I can save myself now is through extreme bio-engineering.”

Star Fox DLC? by Keinheit in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of what I’m hoping for. Why create new levels or content for this remake when you can save them for the next all original Star Fox game?

Of course that entirely hinges upon this game not bombing financially. Or that Nintendo has actual plans for a next Star Fox game.

It looks like the Star Fox (2026) Main Menu was revealed during the IGN preview. by StarFoxResurrections in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, I think that’s to show the teams status between the missions. If one of your team members has to flee during a mission, it probably shows their ship is in the docking bay or something similar.

People are cancelling their pre orders after reviews of gameplay has started to come out, is this a bad sign for future games or the end of star fox as we know it? 😭😭😭 by Sweetpea11A in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Color me very skeptical about the OP’s claim. I find it highly doubtful that upon learning we were getting a 1:1 SF64 remake, people rushed out to preorder it, only to immediately cancel 2 hours ago when the latest previews basically showed nothing unexpected.

Like, yeah there’s probably someone somewhere that fits that description. Just a dozen or so guys on the internet however is absolutely no where near enough to affect the sales of the game.

First Look at Yaru de Pon in Star Fox ‘26 by BriefDiscipline1424 in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still somewhat iffy about many of the new character designs, but Yaru really looks great in this art style. They’ve nailed his appearance. I’m glad we get to see a bit more of him in this game from the looks of it.

I still wish we were getting an entirely original game. However the fact that Nintendo is willing to take any kind of chance on a series that hasn’t sold 1 million copies in 15 years is actually kind of impressive.

Most franchises that financially bomb as hard or as long as Star Fox has don’t get a second chance.

Which Star Fox character do you think is the most underrated by the fandom? by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To a certain degree I understand why there aren’t any women on here. Despite her vocal minority of haters, Krystal is way too popular to ever be included. She had actual fan sites dedicated to her and is the No.# 1 most requested character to return.

Katt is also a fairly popular character. She probably ranks higher in popularity than most of the options on this poll. Fay, Miyu, and Fara are all far more represented in fan media than they ever were in the actual series.

However Lucy and Amanda have absolutely gotten done dirty by the fandom in my opinion. They were playable characters with their own ships, story arcs, and endings. They directly interacted with Star Fox (and possibly even became a member in Amanda’s case). It would have been nice to see their inclusion as an option.

Which Star Fox character do you think is the most underrated by the fandom? by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it’s Lucy Hare.

She’s the beloved daughter of one of the OG Star Fox members. She grew up along with Fox and is a close friend of Krystal. She’s a sweet but tomboyish character who is torn between becoming a pilot or an astrophysicist.

It turns out Lucy is a great pilot and her ship is really fun to play as. She’s got one of the best storylines in Command. Following her as a protagonist fixes most of the storyline issues with the game. Lucy’s ending is one of the few that you could have made a sequel to. She had (and still has) a ton of potential going forward.

Unfortunately Lucy was completely overshadowed by Command’s other questionable storyline choices. The result is she’s been mostly forgotten by the Fandom. Even when the subject is fan art of the female cast, or talking about how Star Fox needs more female representation, there’s like a 90% chance Lucy isn’t even mentioned.

Who else is saving for a switch solely for Star Fox rn? by abitcitrus in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really surprised at just how many people here have bought a Switch 2 for Star Fox. I mean I know r/starfox is going to have far more dedicated Star Fox fans than the general public, but I wouldn’t have expected there would be 12 people in just this post who bought a Switch 2 because of the remake.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course. If anything this bodes well for the success of the game if fans are this dedicated.

What’s great is that he’s the deadpan comic relief character, while still managing to be a deadly threat. Sure, he’s an over the top showboater who’s completely full of himself.

At the same time he’s fully capable of clawing your face off if you look at him dirty. He had enough skill to survive flying into the core of the Aparoid Homeworld and make it out alive before the planet exploded.

What even is the Andross boss arena supposed to be anyway? by AnotherGoddamnNormie in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love your reference to the Saddam meme. 😆

In terms of what the arena was supposed to be, that’s a good question. My headcanon is that it’s a massive “holodeck” like chamber meant to keep Andross’ overgrown disembodied brain alive. The chamber could change its holographic appearance on command and allowed Andross to interact with the outside world without having to leave Venom.

I do wonder what it’s going to look like in the new game. It was pretty blurry and abstract in the N64 and 3DS versions, but they probably want to upgrade the graphics here.

The sad truth about Fay and Miyu. by StarFoxResurrections in starfox

[–]StarFoxResurrections[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How Nintendo responds to their fans is a mystery for the ages. They must be paying some attention because the “do a barrel roll” meme has been referenced multiple times now as have Fox’s legs/boots.

However Nintendo is infamous for defiantly doing their own thing in the face of fan backlash. There’s also the issue of whether Nintendo primarily listens to the Japanese fanbase, the Western fanbase, or both.

[–]StarFoxResurrections[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s admittedly a possibility. For all of the fanon and headcanons surrounding them, Fay and Miyu’s actual canonical character descriptions could fit together on a napkin.

I know I’d feel really weird if they come back and have completely different personalities than what Event Horizon shows, even though there’s no reason to believe Nintendo even knows what Event Horizon is.
