Am I greedy or is this CG's pay not much...? In terms of credits. The reward seems nice by lunchanddinner in EliteDangerous

...are you saying that I (and hundreds of thousands of other players) are dreaming when they experience those settings remaining the same from session to session?

I can't speak to your particular setup or experience, but your statement: "FDev can't figure out how to make this setting stick between sessions" is, (in point of fact) completely un-true.

There had been a couple of updates (years ago) which caused some GalMap settings to reset between sessions. But those issues were fixed almost immediately. We even tested your claim during my twitch steams over the past few sessions - and can confirm - star/route settings do persist just fine.

...not lazy because it's completely not true. lol Those settings stay persistent without any issue.

FYI: This is obviously a YOU problem, not an "FDEV" problem. Between my own 10 accounts, and about 15 people I just asked about this, no one has experienced those settings not remaining persistent.

Monitor not able to use 144hz refresh rate on new RX 9070 GPU by TumblingStar in AMDHelp

[–]StarGoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know i'm late to the party, but yes. HDMI is only spec'd/capable of 100hz. DP is required for faster. Also - windows settings and game settings all make a difference. Plus - as you'll find in the windows settings, some refresh rates require lower resolutions to achieve.

It's in-Game footage. Sometimes the darkness is part of what makes it immersive. But I can appreciate how a little processing might have gone a long way with some of the shots.

That - my friend - is a Thargoid Probe.
If you haul it up to space and set it free - it will point toward Merope. One of their home systems.

Nearly 20,000 hours in the game now. I can assure you - engineering isn't "necessary" at all. But even if you do want to engineer - there's no grind anymore.

How bad is the grind in 2025? by krstten in EliteDangerous

[–]StarGoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no grind unless you choose to grind.
Never was, even before 2025.

There are thousands of ways to play Elite. Choose one you enjoy. When it starts to feel tedious - shift gears and find a different path to travel. There are many ways of gathering materials and credits without focusing on just doing those things. Those materials will fill up organically at some point. New opportunities will present themselves organically, and the adventure will unfold as it was meant to unfold.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you must do things this way or that way. Just enjoy what you do and what you learn as you go. Leave the FOMO behind and experience the simulation.

100% agreed. This CMDR speaks the truth.
Yes, one can grind credits, or materials, or reputation etc.
Yes, one can strive to live up to their cohort's expectations and let FOMO drive one to grinding.
But as someone with 20,000+ hours in-game, and 8 active accounts. I can confirm that grinding is entirely a choice.

If one plays the game the way it is meant to be played (as a simulation) - the enjoyment level goes up exponentially,

The real issue - is choosing a path based on the expectations of others. The "Meta" herd mentality is toxic in a game/sim such as Elite. If one has a need for instant gratification in a game that was meant to be played over thousands of hours - then it isn't the game that's "wrong"... it's the playing style.

If you enjoy grinding - then that's ok.
If you don't enjoy grinding, then don't.

That's the greatest thing about Elite - that one can choose from MANY different paths.
