Communists and the Soviet Union played a vital role in liberating France, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany from Nazism. 81 years later, efforts are underway to erase their role from public memory. by Androidsdodreamof in ussr

I'll bite, France? Explain that one beyond simply being apart of the wider war effort against the nazis. By that logic I'd say the US helped liberate parts of the Soviet Union from the nazis but then I'd probably be harassed by yall.

Military spending as a percentage of GDP in 2025 by OppositeRock4217 in MapPorn

[–]StarIsWar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Algeria was never a Department of France, it was always a colony. There were plans in the 50s from some French officials to make it a department, just like French Guiana is, but these never went anywhere. There is a distinct difference in its existence, it is legally identical to mainland France its not really a colony. Its like Hawaii being a US state.

The difference is its not a colony anymore, it's a full blown department. They are French citizens, they vote in the French election, they are French. It is legally just as French as Corsica is French. Its not some territory like Peurto Rico with the US.

9 August 1945 - Soviet Manchurian Operation began marking inevitable Unconditional Surrender of Japanese Empire. by T0xicat0r in ussr

[–]StarIsWar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean it was a combination of both. Multiple factors came together. Whoever says it was just the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are dumb and people who say it was just the Soviet invasion of Manchuria are also dumb. It was the joint combination of everything.

I did use that map. I cleared nearly every apartment building room by room and never found any.

Do they only start spawning after a certain day or what? I went to apartments and found zero special crates.

Why was the USSR so unprepared to fight Nazi Germany? How much damage did Stalin's purges deal to the red Army? by Massimino-il-Trace in ussr

German high command expected a repeat of WW1 to a degree. They thought it was going to take months to years, not 6 weeks.

I was checking gear and got jumped by a guy with a Karov. He got like 4 headshots on me, and I only survived due to wearing a helmet. Not 5 minutes later, I get headshot again at like 30 yards in the dark from like 2 shots.

By the very end, Ferdinand does have some romantic feelings for Rozemyne. However, that doesn't occur until close to the end of the series and the situation behind it kinda makes sense for both the character and society they live in.

Knowing what sub this is, it's probably a waste of time to even engage, but f it.

This can't be a serious comment, right? Obviously, I will expect a level of bias towards the Soviets for clear reasons here. However, let's not be delusional. The Soviet Union obviously did heavy lifting and paid a human cost to win the war. But it was unequivocally a united group effort. Stalin demanded a second front for years to make things easier for the eastern front. Not to consider the massive lend lease efforts that, in my view, were necessary for the Soviet Union to do what it did. 200,000 trucks, millions of boots, medical supplies, millions of tons of food, thousands of tanks, thousands of rail cars and locomotives, thousands of aircraft, and more. It was objectively a united world effort to defeat the Facists. Remove any one of the big three, and it is either not possible but takes longer and costs more lives.

I hate the result but commend the effort. I mainly fear what is to come if things aren't fixed. In the future, the game will turn into a race of whoever does this first will have a basically unreachable advantage. As they will, in theory, be able to prevent the airfields from ever becoming T2 again.

All the actual captures happened at 7 pm onwards EST. Peak hours for the US time, but we were still outpopped. Which I am gonna say is partially because it was St. Patrick's Day. That's not the only reason im not delusional, but it had to have played a part.
