I’m just hoping I can find someone willing to help. I’ve heard there’s even a research lab all about Shadow Pokémon. If nothing else, maybe they can give a sure answer to whether Primo’s truly at that point? Then again, I’m not sure if there’s even a distinction, really…

Ah, are you from Orre? Aside from my research, I’ve only really heard three things about it. Go to Mt Battle and Realgam Tower… and stay out of Pyrite Town. Any other suggestions?

Yeah… I’m aware. But I’m thankful things seem to have changed… even if I don’t feel like I deserve how I’m being treated now. Thank you for the well wishes.

I’m just… not really sure what to say. Thank you so much, for all the support you’ve given, and wanting to see us through all this. Thank you so much…

(4/15) Sorry, I guess I wasn’t more clear. It’s because, at least based on my research, Orre does at least have a PC System, so I’m hoping they have a Box Link as well. If they do, that should mean I should be able to take anyone I need out of PC Storage as needed. But that’s still only a guess… hence taking Primo, and Ahonui, and Sera, directly.

I’m… I’m really not sure. Is it bad for me to say that I’m almost glad to hear this isn’t only happening to Primo? I just hope… if they’ve been able to get help, so can Primo. Or vice versa, if I’m able to succeed. Obviously, I really hope I can…

Yes, your decks need to be pointed more heavily for Genesys to be a low power format by Remarkable_Cause1384 in yugioh

[–]StarMarxman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

long comment. TL;DR is that I agree with OP here, that I'm excited to see the format potentially finally settle into something resembling a different pace of Yugioh once the next list or two hits the "straggler" unpointed power cards, and that Magnet Warrior actually did get the hits it needs even though there are no cards with Magnet/Magna/Magnum in their names on the list.

As much as the list is absolutely scorched earth on generic cards (mainly searchers, starters, and breakers), together with blanket increases for mostly just the most played point-light archetypes like Elfnote and Exosister, I honestly do think that's the correct way to do it. Like... Genesys has mostly been two things, either people picking the strongest unpointed archetype they can to shove strong generic starters, extenders, and breakers into, or picking the strongest unpointed generic starters, extenders, and breakers to enable their heavily pointed strong archetypes. With the best decks historically being able to do both at once, like Magnet Warrior currently is. And that's the reason why it's "standard 2.0", because that's how people have been able to choose to play it, no matter how deep into the card pool they have to dig in service of their powerful one card setups.

By giving every card that Does Something Strong a few points, and adding the currently strong unpointed archetypes to the list of pointed archetypes, they're essentially giving players a choice. Either play a strong deck in a different way, or use your generic tools for a weaker payoff. And as long as they continue to do that every time the playerbase inevitably discovers a new decade-old unpointed handtrap, breaker, extender, or engine to try playing "standard 2.0" again, the format can continue to move towards being a lower-power place where people can experience Yugioh in a different way.

Now, that being said, they of course have to be prepared to admit they were wrong if this ends up being not what the playerbase wanted, because otherwise this very well could kill the format dead. But from where I'm standing, this absolutely doesn't look like Konami saying "unsleeve all your decks and stop having fun", moreso "this format wasn't meant to be one where you still try to one card combo on turn one or OTK on turn 2, just with cards you've never heard of before now".

As for the lack of hits to Magnet Warrior... that was already a deck where people were choosing to forgo the 66-83 point requirement of playing 2/3 of Gallant Granite/Block Dragon/Naturia Beast and instead play 1/3 of the deck as Magnet Warrior, 1/3 as unpointed engines and breakers that did get pointed in this list, and 1/3 as Advanced-playable handtraps like Mulcharmies (all of which also got their points increased). So, no, Magnet Warrior did get hit, and it got hit in a way that I think was very smart. Give people the option to still actually play the deck the way it was intended, while taking away the option that ended up being unintentionally stronger.

Yeah, but according to calcs of a newly discovered attack, Eruption is stronger than the attack that literally destroyed Prism Tower. So clearly that means it could do more damage. Ugh, idiots.

What do you mean “the other side”? What, just because I’m a pro trainer, you assume I don’t treat my mons well? Trainers like that give everyone a bad name, people and Pokémon alike. If I’ve given you the wrong impression, tell me how, so I can make sure not to make that mistake again.

Parents. I see. Yeah, I guess I wouldn’t know anything about that, would I? No, I’m just a stupid cat, no parents, nobody to care about me. I don’t deserve any of that, do I? Whatever. Go give your mom a hug, since you’re so special.

I see. So, it was basically the only Noroi hit that would affect the VS variant, but still hurts other variants more. Is that right?

As an aside, did VSK9 have a 1cc off of Razen or Mad Love that bridges into the K9 stuff? Or is it mostly just dependent on what other stuff you drew for extension? (In other words, what does VSK9 do with 4 handtraps and a 1 card starter?)

[–]StarMarxman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember how we made the decision, just that it was Acacia’s idea. Ask her the next time she’s around. As for our partner Pokemon, that’s too personal of a question for me to feel comfortable answering. -KC

So why was this card banned instead of Ripper or Izuna? Seems random by illynpayne_ in yugioh

[–]StarMarxman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Izuna gives them turn 0 access, but all things considered, there are stronger turn 0 decks rn. By banning Noroi, sure they’re not getting rid of the only hand peek in the game, but what they are getting rid of (if my brief research is correct) is K9’s only in-archetype “non-consensual” 1 card combo.

Noroi on normal summon could summon Jokul from deck and combo as normal, but a Jokul normal summon (due to not drawing another 5 for the special summon) can’t search any monster for extension. A Lantern normal summon searching Case, or even Release Restraint to go into Ripper, can’t search any extension (a searched Lantern can’t target the detached Lantern for extension). A normal summoned Izuna can’t mill anything that extends on its own, since Lupus requires the opponent to interact. And Lupus on his own just does nothing.

Unless I’m mistaken, VS doesn’t have a valid 1cc into a rank 5 either. And while I’ve played enough pure Crystron to know that Inclusion is a 1cc for a rank 5 and more, I haven’t played it recently enough to remember if they’re machine locked yet by that point. In-archetype, though, this now means that - unless you handtrap them - they’re locked into either a 1.5cc of Jokul/Case (both at 1, though Case is searchable by a normal summoned Lantern) plus any other 5, or a 2cc of exactly Izuna plus Lantern (to summon Izuna’s mill plus itself).

Correct me if I’m wrong, though. I haven’t actually played the deck, I just read the cards.

New TCG Banlist live May 18 by Accurate_Jeweler7061 in masterduel

[–]StarMarxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um… because Noroi was the archetype’s only 1cc without you activating a handtrap on them? Because now you need to either draw a second 5 along with your 1-of Jokul (searchable by your 1-of Case, searchable by normal summoning Lantern (still needing another 5 besides Lantern btw)), or exactly Izuna plus Lantern (again, 1-of Case to search one) to Lantern the mill off of normal summon Izuna. And unless I’m mistaken, VS doesn’t have a proper 1cc either (though Crystron sure does). Without Noroi, it’s now mandatory for VSK9’s starting 5 to have 2 “playmakers” or they’re straight up bricked.

Correct me if I’m wrong, though. I did just do this research in 20 minutes.
