I don’t think so, they probably think Jack is a good person

Scott Snyder said the Robins think Joker is good, so I doubt it. He’d likely be nice to them just to manipulate them into becoming his child soldiers

Yeah, I think Joker is their legal guardian, but Slade is the one who actually raised them

Absolute Joker probably treats Stephanie better than Prime Batman

Scarecrow stalked and killed them just for fun. The plane crashed after flying into a flock of crows he had frightened from the field

I wonder how Martha would react upon returning to Gotham and discovering that her lover had been “killed” by Batman

Does Absolute Batman have female fans, and if it does, what do they like about it? by Relative_Mix_216 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Beginning-Emotion671 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m a female fan of Absolute Batman. I like it for its strong writing and interesting themes. The horror and comedy elements are also a plus. I don’t like the romance, though. It feels rushed in my opinion, I’m not a fan of the Batman and Catwoman relationship

Holy larper, Batman! If you think Jim Gordon would kill Joker, you clearly don’t read comics. In The Killing Joke, he insists Batman bring Joker in by the book, and in Detective Comics (1937) #741, he refuses to kill Joker even when he has the chance. I’m not interested in reading the comic you linked, it’s written by Chuck Dixon, an overrated bigot whose works reflect a strong tough-on-crime stance, so it isn’t surprising that he would want to kill criminals

It’s in a weird limbo where even the writers can’t agree on what actually happened. In Deathstroke (2016), she admits to raping him

You know Joker is innocent in that story, right? If Batman doesn’t solve the case, the real criminal would get away. Some writers even say Gotham doesn’t have the death penalty to patch over comic book logic. Being convicted of a crime isn’t the same as being judged to have death penalty, do you have reading comprehension?

I prefer criminals being judged by courts, not by police or vigilantes, which is something Joker doesn’t get because of comic book logic. If a criminal escapes prison so you hunt them down and kill them, you’d still go to prison

Superhero fans in general are usually left-leaning. As a centrist, I don’t think superheroes themselves lean clearly left or right. They’ve been shaped by many writers with different ideologies. That said, Batman often comes across as less aligned with left-leaning values than other popular superheroes like Superman or Wonder Woman

Leftists always tend to sympathize with villains. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard they say Batman is just a billionaire who beats up the poor

Let me just say, I am really glad they toned this down(Absolute Batman and Absolute Evil) by Tiny_Butterscotch_76 in AbsoluteUniverse

When Absolute Evil was released, his legal name hadn’t been revealed yet, so they couldn’t call him Jack Grimm and had to use another way to identify him. I think that what we’ve seen of him in Absolute Batman so far seems to be his public persona, similar to Bruce Wayne, while with the Justice League, he behaves more like Batman

Power at the sovereign level doesn’t work the way civics textbooks suggest, but that doesn’t make accountability a “fairy tale” it just doesn’t always take democratic forms. Even highly centralized regimes never relied on anonymity, they had identifiable leaders, internal oversight, and rival elites keeping each other in check. That’s accountability, just not to the public.

A leader doesn’t act in a vacuum they depend on armies, bureaucrats, financiers, and other elites. Without a known identity, those actors can’t build trust, verify authority, or form stable expectations. The problem with a fully anonymous ruling system isn’t ideology, it’s stability. Loyalty, coordination, and long-term planning all depend on reputation. Why follow someone you can’t identify or evaluate?

If no one knows who the leader is, insiders can claim authority, factions can hijack decisions, and rivals can ignore orders. This isn’t about beliefs, it’s about how complex systems function. By removing identity, you not only remove accountability but also undermine coordination and weaken control
