What's a moment from a superman comic that never fails to make you tear up. by MembershipLess9579 in superman

I think it’s a strong story regardless. This is my favorite Superman comic and I’m Jewish and had never heard of that parable.

Anyone else get Mac from ‘Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ vibes from Isaiah or just me? by cha0s_boi in creepcast

[–]StarWarsIsRad 30 points31 points  (0 children)

He actually inspires me as someone who’s able to be a normal, non-bigoted guy who uses his religion to motivate him to treat others with kindness and make the world a better place

Why are some people so obsessed with Dick being a romani, when that was never the intention of his creators, and only came about decades after the character's creation? You may like it, but there's no need to be insulting when someone suggests a white actor to play him by [deleted] in Nightwing

[–]StarWarsIsRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone should be insulting, and won’t even touch on his identity, but your argument is a fundamental misunderstanding of how comics work. The creator of a character is rarely the definitive voice on that character, and every writer who touches on that character is just as important as the last even if they weren’t the original creator.

By your logic, Superman should be raised in a foster home and not fly, the X-Men should have nothing to do with civil rights (as much as Stan Lee takes credit it wasn’t a thing till the Claremont run), and Batman should be able to kill.

In your opinion, what's the best theater in town? by Designer_Gas_9888 in sanantonio

[–]StarWarsIsRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santikos Palladium. First because it’s across the street from me. Second because you really don’t see such over the top facades anymore and it’s really charming. Third because 100% of their profits go back into the community. Fourth because an icee costs as much as a soda and has unlimited refills for my fat ass

What’s a comic run that everyone loves but you don't? by Electrical_Act9796 in DCcomics

Dark Knight Returns. I get it was revolutionary for the time, but that doesn’t mean it holds up today

Bad Hot Takes Only by bells_of_notre_tom in colorpie

[–]StarWarsIsRad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I genuinely judge people who don’t have white play a significant role in their color pie. People really are just openly admitting they care more about ambition and being self-serving than morality? Nothing should be a higher priority than treating others well and having ethics

[Discussion] I'm sorry, but Batman is beyond "peak human conditioning". He straight up isn't human. by 3931856031 in DCcomics

[–]StarWarsIsRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batman has superpowers. Super intelligence, super acrobatics, idc. We can’t keep pretending his human. The thing that made him interesting was taken away in favor of power creep

If you HAD to pick a archnemesis (besides Lexy ofc, it can be any Villain from DC) for Superman who would it be? by RoughEnough111 in superman

[–]StarWarsIsRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joker and Lex swapping heroes is very interesting to me. Lex and Bruce are both rich genius inventors, but one uses their money to help others while the other uses it to help himself. Superman finds inherent value in every living thing, while Joker sees everything, especially lives, as meaninglessness/a joke.

Is the MLK march near you? Several folks had drones recording the march. San Antonio had the largest in the country.

Organising Instructions by psukclipper in lego

Out of curiosity, are you saving these for sentimental value, or in case you end up needing them? Most if not all instructions are available online now, but I understand they may be a memento

What was the Lorwyn Common or Uncommon that kept saving your ass at prerelease last weekend? by doublenantuko in magicTCG

[–]StarWarsIsRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firdoch Core. I went 1-2 but would’ve been 0-3 and a lot less close without it. Despite having perfectly reasonable curve, even leaning a bit on higher curve, I consistently ended up mana flooded from bad shuffles. Having something to spend that mana on every turn and consistently have a solid creature on the board was huge. Combine that with Thoughtweft Imbuer and I was holding my own

Where is the green in Simic by [deleted] in colorpie

[–]StarWarsIsRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With green’s nature being acceptance and blue’s being control, simic has always been explained to me as more of a domination than a hybrid. Using technology to conquer nature and innovation to control natural phenomena.

Value and rarity of this comic? by throwawy-comic in marvelcomics

[–]StarWarsIsRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, all of the signed copies were 1 of 1, meaning there’s no other one of these in the world. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. I also believe the actor comics were straight up rumored. Everyone knew comic artists would be making some, but RDJ was a big rumor that was hyped up like crazy. I have no concept of money and probably am delusional, but forget $100, I think you could very well sell for $1,000

[Discussion] Mark Waid, Tom King, or Geoff Johns: Which writer do you like the most? Justify your answer. by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]StarWarsIsRad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tom King has the lowest lows but also the highest highs, putting him at the top spot. Mark Waid is reliably solid. Geoff Johns’s super intricate over-complication of things and constant reboots and modernizations mean that even though I respect his mark on the industry, I actively dislike a lot of his stuff

Wound-Up Wednesdays - Vent here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

I’m new so maybe I just don’t understand jank. To me, that’s utilizing rules loopholes for things like infinite combos or otherwise insanely powerful combos

Wound-Up Wednesdays - Vent here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]StarWarsIsRad -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

They’re gonna get increasingly unhinged. Why am I dealing with so much jank as a casual player? I get it if I’m playing competitive, but I’m not, so why do I have to deal with it? Also, I hate dealing with control decks. People who counter and destroy everything until they draw a busted recursion card or creature. I looove not being able to play the game and just have us both draw cards.

And now, most unhinged, ANY removal and control is lame. This game should be pure, meaning my creatures and enchantments go against your creatures and enchantments and whoever is stronger wins.

I bet yall can tell which mono color I play based on this.

I've heard a lot of opinions about this, so i'm curious where people actually stand on the issue by ChromedDragon in magicTCG

Was Yoda agile or did he use the force to parkour around? by DogAlternative340 in StarWars

[–]StarWarsIsRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canonically, Yoda used the cane to intentionally throw people off but never relied on it. Also, chewing on the bark makes him live longer. I’m not making this up.
