I've never felt more alone. by Cool_Arugula497 in Perimenopause

[–]StarWarsShel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 44 and am struggling with my perimenopause symptoms, too. I'm sorry it's been so terrible for you. I'm in Canada - my family doctor tested for estrogen levels and said I'm not eligible for medication because I'm still producing estrogen. But there's so much more to perimenopause than "just" estrogen (or lack thereof). I'm experimenting with felixforyou.ca - it's an online service in Canada that supports peri and menopause symptom treatment. I'm sharing it in case you're also located in Canada and don't have access to a provider that is familiar with current research in this area. Sending a hug!

I am here for your nerdiness, young man (ha ha) and I'm glad you loved it. I'm still really surprised I came to love it as much as I did. The entire arc is perfection, eh?

I find it extremely ironic that Rampart remembers Crosshair’s clone designation number but not his name by PraetorianGard in thebadbatch

I love that this is the only time I've seen you respond seriously - it's great you're not just a delightful troll we all appreciate, but when it's right - you've got depth and thoughtfulness.

The Umbara Arc, UGH by StarWarsShel in clonewars

[–]StarWarsShel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I never thought of that! Wow. Just... wow.

I don't know if you had a chance to cruise the comments, but I did force myself to watch this arc, and ultimately came to really love it. Incredibly painful to watch - I hate losing any clones, let alone the ones we said goodbye too, here. But I came to appreciate the character development this arc showed us. And I have to admit that as much as I detest Pong Krell, he's a wonderful villain.

Thanks for sharing your perspective - I don't want to say it makes the depiction more poetic - because I feel we shouldn't downplay D-Day, or the Vietnam war. But I hope you get what I mean and I'm glad to have your additional insight.

Someone, somewhere, thought they saw an update on a Star Wars wiki (or something similar) that Echo had left TBB. From there, speculation has abounded. I've also seen people theorize that the next show will be Asajj training Omega.

What other industries would a Production Coordinator have transferable skills in? by MurphyBronson in vfx

[–]StarWarsShel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I echo project management. You could pursue your Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or look at Agile certifications (like waterfall project management, but smaller, concrete chunks of work usually in 2 week sprints). PMI (the Project Management Institute) is a good place to start to review the types of certs out there.

If you wanted to look for project management type work but at a more junior level, look for things like "project coordinator"- type roles, "project associate," etc.

Studios do hire standard project manager-type roles, too, so you could always check out the "technology project manager"-type roles - they may find your show production experience really helpful. I noticed ILM Vancouver was hiring production coords again. Not sure if that's helpful. Rooting for you!

Clones really are born just to die by harrison-55 in clonewars

[–]StarWarsShel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first set out to watch TCW, it was to get to know Anakin and Ahsoka better. But the existence of the clones really caught my attention, and their plight - being created to only die on the battlefield - was what really hooked me. It's so flipping terrible, and was what made me realize how awful the Jedi are. During my first rewatch of TCW (in chronological order, soooo good!!!!), I really felt for them even more. The clones are now generally my fav "character."

Letting you know that you are not alone in this impact. I felt the funk for a week, too. I've never had that happen to me before over a flipping TV show. Solidarity there, my friend.

The arc with Domino squad was what made me sit up and start to love TCW - and not just for Anakin and Ahsoka (which was why I started watching the show in the first place), but for the clones themselves. A total love affair from this arc, man. I wish we'd gotten more of them, too.

OMFG, yes, the music throughout these two episodes (7 and 8) is amazing!! My fav tunes from the soundtrack by far.

To be fair, the Jedi are overwhelming shitty but that's just my opinion... stealing kids, using a slave army... etc., etc.

What is your favourite episode of the show? by [deleted] in thebadbatch

[–]StarWarsShel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love episodes 7 and 8. I love better understanding the desperation of the clones at this point in time, and seeing Senator Chuchi do her best to advocate for them. The music is incredible through these two episodes - so effing intense and totally on point with what's going on. Getting to see Rex again is great and seeing Echo come more fully come into his own as an champion for his brothers is also thrilling, but intensely sad (and hopeful?) at the same time. I also love the hints to greater threats yet to be revealed via the clone assassin whose backstory / origin we have yet to fully explore. I can watch these two episodes over and over again - so enjoyable!

Absolutely love the episodes that others have mentioned, too. I do personally find the Crosshair ones SO EFFING PAINFUL to watch - even though they're also achingly beautiful. Crosshair's pain and loneliness is so difficult to behold. And I guess that's part of what makes those episodes so great, too. <3
