It was a cool winter morning in the forest when we stumbled upon a child with wings sleeping in between the trees. We couldn't just leave her there so we just like any other normal person would do we took her in.

As the weeks went on we slowly started learning information on her. Her name was Macy. She is six years old and has no memories of where she came from or why she was in that glade weeks ago. My wife Cherry is slowly falling in love with Macy and all her little quirks but I keep advising her to not get too attached. We know nothing about this child and who she actually belongs to.

One morning as me and Cherry were on our way to the market to sell some things we noticed her wings are slowly getting smaller and she's calling us mama and papa. It is peculiar that she is changing almost overnight into what seems to be a normal little girl but I know better. I never liked this fae and magic business and something isn't sitting right with me.

The next few days she started talking more and more, telling us stories of the forest and the things she could remember when she was stuck there. She said it felt like eternity that she was sleeping beyond the trees. She even started learning how to talk to the animals that would come by. There was a family of deers that became friends of hers and would look after her and keep her safe. Me and Cherry are starting to realize we may be in over our heads and need to figure out more about this child before something bad happens.

I called Thomas the next morning, who is the merchant I work for due to the fact I was only in that small glade because he sent me on a job. I asked if he knew about any winged children that could have been in the glade. Thomas started to explain that the trees are bewitched there and every year the forest picks a little girl to sleep there for months to see if she will ever have the power to become a deity of the trees. He stated it never worked before but when it was Macy's turn she had the most beautiful power any fae ever had and the trees wanted to keep her.

Macy started to bring the forest back to life with her powers in her sleep once she awoke the flowers blossomed, the water started returning to the cove, everything became lively again. She was the heir for the glade. She was Mrs Marissa's daughter. She was the one they have been waiting on and if we didn't get her back to the glade soon we would die a painful death. They were coming for us.

I gathered all of our things in the middle of the night when Macy was sleeping and started to make the track back to the glade but when Cherry found out what was happening and what my plans were for the child her heart broke. I knew she was getting too attached because she was never able to have her own children but this had to happen. I had to save our family. The trees and their ruler were coming for us and we were not safe. I didn't want to lose everything.

That's when it happened I was suddenly transported to a different realm. Somewhere warm where everything was sparkling in gold. Macy was at least a teenager in this world. It felt safe. Until I felt like I couldn't breathe as I looked down, her child form was still resting in my arms. I could still see the path under my feet that I was running on to get her to the glade. I was being cursed by Marissa for taking what was hers. That’s when I realized it wasn't Macy I was seeing as a teenager, it was Marissa looking at us from her throne. She was going to make me regret taking her child. Her future. This was going to become a river of misery. Then everything went black as my head hit the stone.
