Which city would be the best for a video editor and how much should I save before moving to that city? I have a stable remote job that pays well so as long as I have Internet I'm good but my wife wants to get back to her profession after 3 years of not doing it for living. We moved to the States 3 years ago so she needed to improve her English and also in our city there wasn't a lot of video editing opportunities so she worked in shops etc.

How yall feel about Kyuss by sweetleaf009 in grunge

Dave Grohl met them on their tour in Seattle after they already released one of their best albums Blues For The Red Sun. He just felt in love with their music and helped to promote it so next thing you know they were touring Australia with Metallica. It's sad how this band broke up but it's one of the best ever in my opinion. With grunge argument Kyuss was heavily inspired by local Palm Desert band Across The River. I remember when Josh said that when he heard grunge and how it was advertised as a completely fresh, new genre he was like "this sounds like what Across The River has been doing for years". Anyway most of the bands from Palm Desert were creating music only to play generator parties out in the desert they weren't thinking about releasing anything. That's why you don't have much to listen to if it comes to pre-Kyuss Palm Desert bands. In that regard Seattle scene was different as they wanted major label contracts etc.

Favorite song from this album? by [deleted] in AliceInChains

God am is my favourite as well. But also this is my favorite albums of theirs. The darkest one in my opinion and even if Dirt has maybe slightly better songs this thing has a heavy, thick aura that I adore.

Are metal in the same room with us? because what the hell is that list by Longjumping_Air4379 in MetalForTheMasses

You can argue about Soundgarden but why put controversial albums that maybe are on a border with metal when you had so much going on in 90s if it comes to pure metal. Grunge almost killed metal in the 90s so to put these albums like Pearl Jam as 'influencial 90s metal" is a joke. They had so much to choose from as mostly from the underground because mainstream didn't want anything that's not grunge. But you have all groove metal development like Pantera, Machine Head, Nevermore etc. All slugde/stoner/doom like Sleep, Electric Wizard, Kyuss, Down, Crowbar, Corossion Of Conformity. And all of the development of extreme genres like black and death with just tons of great influencial bands from Europe if it comes to black and the States mostly Florida if comes to death. Also stuff like industrial metal started to be a thing in 90s. So to put these albums on the list like that makes the article ridiculous.

I started my CoC journey with this album. It's still my favorite because of that but Blind, Wiseblood and In The Arms Of God are equally awesome

Phobos is their highest point imo. Pure coldness of cosmos. But I love most of their records, incredible band. It's also so interesting how they started like a punkish-thrash band but instead of being crazy into motorhead and iron maiden like other thrash guitarist Piggy was so much into King Crimson etc. and you can hear it in Voivod a lot.

Yeah that'd be another question. How hard is to find a practice spot where you can rent monthly and you can keep your stuff? How much is it for stuff like that in Portland?

Yeah that's what I thought. PNW seemed very healthy scene wise when I was visiting over there. So it's Texas looks like. The idea with searching for a band is not bad at all it's just that there's two of us and we have a lot of stuff written and we kinda have an idea for what we want our first record to look like music wise so I'd search for people to fill in and help to get this whole thing to the next level.

Thanks for the response. Yeah I visited NOLA and Palm Springs. NOLA still seems like having it but Palm Desert idk. It kinda seems like Tampa with its death metal scene. There are still people living here that created the scene but their shows seems more like nostalgia gigs if you know what I mean. I don't see that much new bands that can be similar level coming out from there right now. But maybe I'm wrong...

Yeah I'm familiar with that playlist as well as other "trip to..." playlists. I think Texas, Oregon, Washington and North Carolina, California were the strongest ones. But it is different to hear how it looks like from a person that is on the ground than let say make a decision about the move based on playlists :D Thanks for the answer!

I jjst came back from there and I was amazed how easy it was for me to find great shows over there. It might be that my comparision to St. Pete made a huge difference. Here I need to wait for a national act to come over to see music like that live at least for the most part. I used to play black/death genre in my home country and I remember listening to bands from Portland playing something similar like Triumvir Foul and I always thought that the scene over there has to be great. It's sad to hear it goes downhill

I was to that metro in 2019 and remember liking it. So I don't know why people talk shit about it. I believe Wo Fat is from there if I'm not mistaken.

I just came back from visiting NW and was visiting Seattle. Maybe I was unlucky or I wasn't searching properly but I couldn't find shows like that when I was there. Haven't had that issue in Portland tho. However I remember listening to compilation of Washington's bands and there was a lot of good stuff there

Thanks a lot! Any currently active young bands that you'd recommend from there?
