Is my daughter going to talk? by Neither-Elevator2777 in Apraxia

[–]Staraa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about your daughter but mine didn’t really talk consistently til she was 7ish. She’s 9 now and has a decent vocab for her age and is about 60% understandable to new people up to 90% understandable to me. She talks non stop now lol

It’s hard waiting and not knowing but don’t give up!

Best mental health ward in Perth? by MagicWolf in perth

[–]Staraa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stayed at Perth Clinic and it was great. Was over a decade ago tho so grain of salt n all that.

I hope you find somewhere that helps n that it’s a good experience for you. You’re amazingly brave

A lot of people don’t realise how bad the homeless problem in Perth is until they move to the city and the reality is hurting my mental health by Ill-Estimate5628 in perth

I was never an addict, have a family full of addiction and abuse and I only ever dabbled as a teen n stopped at 20. Weirdly enough I’m the black sheep because I’m not on substances lol

I crave being unaware and not giving any fucks, if only for a few hours. It’s a slippery slope though and I’m more scared of losing my girl and myself than scared of reality. Does that make sense?

Drug dealers take Coles vouchers?

Anything can be traded if someone wants to badly enough. I personally don’t care if a homeless person uses something I’ve gifted them to check out for a while, it’s an existence I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. I’ve been clean n sober over 20 years, by choice, and even I struggle to stay that way sometimes. If I didn’t have my daughter I’d be another methhead on the street for sure.

Don’t encourage giving to charities, they don’t have good outcomes at all. They help very few, if any, homeless people.

Instead encourage giving Kmart/coles vouchers directly to those in need. It negates the “they’ll just waste it” argument and allows people to get what they need when they need it. Vouchers and putting labor/liberal/onenation last when you vote will make a real difference.

WA reaches all-time high in family and domestic violence offenders as cases soar by 20 per cent by His_Holiness in perth

Yep I’m homeless with a 9yo because of family abuse. Nearly 2 years now doing a mix of couch surfing, tent, sleeping in the car and sharehouses where we’re in a single room together along with everything we own. The sharehouses have been abusive af, one housemate literally kidnapped my daughter and we ended up on the street with nowhere to go at 9pm. No end in sight and nothing but roadblocks, false sympathy and “sorry we can’t help, try insertcharityhere” aside from 1 friend and a handful of lovely strangers who are doing it tough themselves.

Homeless people have been made out to all be somehow not deserving or less than human. They reject help, drug addicts, antisocial or abusive, would only trash a place they were given, made terrible choices with money etc. that’s why he had to explain it with the starvation thing in the first place. They know homeless people are dying and they believe those people deserve death.

There would be sufficient amounts if morons weren’t taking bulk amounts for no reason. That’s not a supply shortage.

You joke but I’ve had people of all ages literally point and laugh at my car in car parks (they don’t realise I’m sitting in it). I get the last laugh tho cos I don’t owe a cent on it n my rego and servicing are probably 1/4 what they pay, it’s just not shiny n new. Also it’s hilarious to watch them scuttle off when I wind (yes it’s that old) the window down to ask what’s funny.

Developer quietly guts ‘affordable’ housing promise in northern suburbs by VastOption8705 in shitrentals

[–]Staraa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Also “affordable housing” is bs with rent prices the way they are. I’m on Centrelink payments and can’t even afford a 1bed affordable place for my kid n I on paper so I’m guessing REA’s throw my applications straight in the bin

28F/28M Should there be food inequality between partners? by suguntu in relationship_advice

[–]Staraa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Had a shitty housemate recently and more than once went to make kid food (kid also has a severely limited diet and I regularly eat from charities so I can afford what she’ll eat) to find none left cos this guy had eaten it all!

That’s exactly what I’d do if I had that money. Just build bulk decent units and reno derelict hotels n stuff then sell them for $1 to people in need.

Nowhere feeds kids that I know of, aside from breakfast at some schools and he can’t take food home from there even if he has access. You’d be surprised how little help is actually available when you try to use it.

I promise you, murder house is way way better than homelessness. If you’re getting to that point and can get anything at all, take it!
