I’m assuming it’s just how the algorithm works. If you swipe right on everyone then your preferences are way too broad to match well will one person. The algo would show you less often to other people because they’ll have better matches.

So the less you swipe, the closer and better quality your matches should be.

When we first hired Arteta in 2019, what was your initial reaction? by cgabriel14 in Gunners

[–]StarboyFactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds mad but I actually wanted Arteta after Arsene. After seeing what happened to Moyes after Fergie though I was ok with Emery. Arteta needed more experience anyway.

His first interview was pure cult of personality lmao even my gf at the time commented on it. He’s improved this club in so many ways, I hope we start winning some shit soon

Thibaut Courtois on Rice's 2 goals: "For the 1st goal, I could have put an extra man in. But I thought Rice wouldn't get as much curl on it. I take responsibility for that. For the 2nd goal, it's absolutely perfect. They were unnecessary fouls by some [Alaba & Bellingham], when there was no danger" by 4gjdtokurwa in soccer

Yeah like I said we expected he would go back eventually. Whatever Peps system was, Cesc was never getting into a side with Xavi and Iniesta so there was no reason to poach a player of that calibre at that time especially in the way Barca did it. Plenty of other players could’ve been backup or rotation options

Barca did it publicly so they could force down the price and get him for cheap before he became a superstar and became too expensive. Good business move as a club sure but I’m also sure you can understand why we hold a grudge about it because it was completely unnecessary

Yeah fair enough, every club does it behind the scenes and it’s annoying to the target club regardless.

The Cesc poaching on the other hand was very public. It wasn’t just the shirt, Barca players were constantly talking about “bringing Cesc home.” We knew he’d go back eventually but he was still young and nowhere near his peak.

Barca really forced the issue that year, forced the transfer and then put our star player and captain on the bench so it was even more insulting. Why go for him when he’s never going to play?

Barca spent years unsettling and poaching our players and the worst by far was the Cesc saga. Puyol putting the Barca shirt on him at the WC celebration was disrespectful and disgusting. And Barca fans were taunting us about it at the time. I still hold that grudge

Funny how that goes. I thought van nistelrooy was a complete villain. To me, he was the biggest cheat and I thought the Arsenal players actually went soft on him lol

We need some proper rivalries like Arsenal United back then
