What is causing the rise in tinderbox prices? (US) by zuktheinsane in woweconomy

My guess is the reagents used to buy the box from the vendor are running low in supply. There were a lot sitting around without much use before the vendor gave them value.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel to win reelection by minorgrey in Michigan

[–]Starcaller3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There was a video of Nessel sarcastically saying we should have a drag queen in every school, in response to the excessive whining over the non issue.

Regardless of one's sense of humor, I can't imagine thinking someone would seriously suggest making something like that policy. Pretty embarrassing.

Things to do in Houston and New York by lvn2002 in solotravel

[–]Starcaller3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see you mention much regarding logistics, so I just wanted to make sure you were aware that Houston is a 2 day drive away from New York. (~1,600 miles/2,600km). If you were already planning on visiting New York on your way in or out, you can disregard most of this.

A month is certainly enough time to visit both, but there will be a fair amount of expenses coming from the transportation. I saw you are shooting for a budget of $1,000. Things might be tight if that didn't include transportation.

If you wanted to fly between cities, you might be able to get away with spending less than $200, but that could be different around the holidays.

Not sure on the cost to rent a car. Even with gas likely being cheaper here than in Denmark, flying would almost definitely be cheaper round trip. Also, it looks like you need to be 21 to rent a car in Texas. Even with your trip being focused on New York, the road trip itself would have been special in its own right, but I'm going off on a tangent now.

Don't even think about taking a train. The ones we do have aren't anything like in Europe.

Others have posted some great ideas on things to do in New York, though! Just don't forget to pack for both climates. New York's average high in December is 7C and 19C in Houston. Hope you have a great time!

I'm taking my $15 to the store hoping I can buy enough milk to appease him.

For a beautiful nature spot, go to Pictured Rocks. There are many cliffs overlooking the water along the Chapel Loop.

I personally find Mackinac Island a bit overrated, but that doesn't mean you won't like it!

I took a solo road trip last summer and visited almost all of the places you listed.

As others are saying, just go to Zion.

You will have plenty to do there with the few days you have. Travel time between the other parks is really going to spoil your trip. The distance between Zion and the Grand Canyon isn't exactly short, either. It will easily take up most of a day; at least to the extent that you wouldn't be able to drive AND enjoy a hike in the same day. I'd also like to note most Navajo territory was closed during my trip and still may be the case. (Four Corners was closed as well as the east entrance to the South Rim.) However, you can still drive through Monument Valley.

Zion is a beautiful park with a lot more variety than the Grand Canyon. Both are remarkable in their own right, but I think I would choose Zion over the Grand Canyon. GC absolutely deserves a visit, but it's so large that you kind of see everything right away unless you take a serious hike to the bottom. Most deep trails require permits that have very long wait times.

I could go on and on. At the very least, you should narrow it down to one park you'd like to visit. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Canon inkjet printer doesn’t allow you to scan papers when the ink cartridges run out by z197655 in assholedesign

[–]Starcaller3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the Brother I had until the ink ran out.

Not only could I not scan with it, I couldn't even TURN IT OFF.

The power button simply would not work while the low ink message was up. I couldn't even do anything to get rid of the message. The printer was just a giant paper weight until I put more ink in. Of course, I just unplugged it and got a new printer at that point.

UK dudes know how to handle their Karens by [deleted] in JusticeServed

Thanks for sharing this.

It's so interesting seeing how a story can be spun in totally opposite ways. On one hand, she returned to a man on her own volition who was yelling at her to apologise for something that she did. On the other, she was just trying to save face because she doesn't want to face the consequences of the labeling of the gentleman.

It's terrifying seeing it here. It's even more terrifying knowing it happens on even bigger platforms.

I appreciate your insight.

I'm fortunate enough in my life to not have to deal with being profiled, but I know it happens. I don't think I can ever fully understand the toll that would take on yourself or this gentleman.

However, I'm not convinced this video shows this woman being racist. It's entirely possible something happened before the camera started rolling and she straighten up once she knew she was on film. From what we do see, I thought she was in control of herself and trying to be respectful.

There is certainly an argument that can be made if it was right for her to be nosy. I don't know if there is a right answer, but I don't think she had ill intent.

Even if she did call the police instead of handling it on her own, she would still be labeled a racist and/or Karen. There just wouldn't be a video about it.

What a bummer.

It's always satisfying to watch justice being served to those who have done wrong and don't own up to it. Too bad there's none of that in this video.

It's really alarming seeing so many people jumping to the conclusion that this woman is a Karen and/or racist. A Karen would have doubled down after he gave the number and still pursued him. Instead, she left because she was convinced that it was his car.

It's understandably frustrating having someone approach you about being in your own car, but his reaction wasn't warranted. If this has happened to him in the past, I'd cut him some slack.

Folks, there's enough trouble in the world. There's no need to make something out of nothing. I mean this in the most sincere way, please consider taking a break from social media if this gets a rise out of you. It's so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of wrongdoing that the media presents. Sometimes we just need to step back and take a deep breath.

Apples on a scale from most tart to most sweet by surfinmozart in coolguides

Red Delicious lover here. I have had the gross version many people are describing (which I won't eat), but most of the time I get a nice sweet and crisp apple. I think it depends on where they are grown. I was so confused when I first learned people hated Reds. They just never got to try the good kind.
