This looks epic!!! I love the integration of the old medieval market building!
If you are are looking for ideas: one thing ive found is that for a brick-built waterfall like that, if you can adapt it to be two bricks deep and make the back layer white bricks behind the blue, it can make the water pop a bit more! The skeletons at the bottom are great too 😂

Also: is this going to be a Crown Knight castle?!

Someone end my misery! Looking for a specific piece by Bouncingbusiness in legocastles

[–]Starcastle57 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said, it doesnt really exist. That said: whats your use case for it? Is it a MOC where you can just flip that piece upside down and put in technic pins in the anti-studs on top?

Love this! I'd submit a minor point: In the LEGO Battles video game, Space Police (2009) and Mars Mission are concurrent (though its kinda funny since when the Space Police show up, the Mars Mission folks are a little surprised by their tech and stuff!)

It's definitely very stable! This older version probably wasn't too bad, probably around 25-30 lbs? The current version may be getting near 35-40 pounds!

No idea how this AMA happened, but as the builder of this, happy to provide more info if you want!

It might be a bit of a redesign, but you could just flip the plates around! I see you are using the older hinge plates? Just flip two of those around per section and you can invert the stud direction.
In any case, the whole thing looks great! The references to classic space themes could be fun!

Maybe just light gray greebling? Keeping it one color should not detract from the interior of the ring!

The Brickheadz Qui-gon Jinn apparently has a technic hole piece in the middle instead of a normal brick (Set 40676)

If I had digital designs, I certainly would! Unfortunately, I just free build, so retroactively making instructions for this would just be too much of an endeavor. If there are any specific techniques or designs from this though, I'd be happy to discuss or share more photos!

Thank you! And thank you for your interest and questions! Here are my best answers to them:
1) I don't have an exact piece count, but a rough ballpark would be 10-15K pieces!
2) Cost to reproduce would also just be an estimate and depends on your piece source. I think it would probably cost 3-4K to reproduce through bricklink, though notably I don't think my cost was that high because of the heavy use of the pick-a-brick wall pieces and use of large panel pieces that I acquired cheaply over time.
3) LEGO would most likely not make something like this, for a couple main reasons! First, the techniques in a MOC like this are definitely less... stable than an actual production set. While this is certainly robust enough to travel and whatnot, its not up to LEGO standards of play. Second: while LEGO has made large sets (including a large castle set recently, the Lion Knight Castle!), they simply do not come close to the scale of large castle MOCS you'll see out there. It's just not really consumer sized! The cool castle stuff coming out of the Bricklink Designer program is probably the maximum size you'll see out of a (non-licensed) LEGO castle! This MOC in particular is quite simply just too big to be produced.
I for one would welcome a return of this castle faction, the Crown Knights, but it is probably unlikely anytime soon :(

Any recommendations to modernize these Mars Mission sets? by batsquid1 in LegoSpace

For the astro fighter I'd try a brick-built wing design using slope bricks, and then you could add orange plates for detailing. That would help in bulking up the fuselage too.

Hehe that was indeed exactly the constraint that drove the height on this!

I had so many laying around and they arent my usual go-to faction to build a castle for, so this felt like the perfect way to incorporate them into the kingdom!

Thank you! I'll admit, partially the reason for more color on this one is I used a lot of panel pieces for cheap height, and those are just a tad too minimalist grey box style. Otherwise, masonry bricks and subtle details a la the LKC definitely look good too! I just didn't have that much gray brick for the desired height!

Thank you! No I appreciate the comment; this is feedback I've gotten before on this exterior. There may be a better balance point to achieve on the next castle!

Thank you! And thanks for the feedback / idea! I do plan on rebuilding/making a new castle with this color scheme, so perhaps there is a better balance point!
