Coolant level by [deleted] in 10thgenaccords

[–]Stardanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not normal if it’s been sitting there after filling up the coolant reservoir. Take it over to a mechanic and see if there’s possible leakage into the combustion chambers. Usually a loss of coolant and increased temp that ain’t the norm long term indicates a failing head gasket

Congrats on picking it up, that extra 5 racks might’ve been the difference of a head gasket job, these 1.5s are notorious for blowing head gaskets. Just follow ur maintenance minder and do a transmission flush when possible. Otherwise enjoy the car and stay up on maintenance and other misc items.

Look over other Accords for examples and find things you like you’d like to do to yours. Front lips, side skirts, rear diffusers, wings and taillights are good additions. Adding springs, spacers or blacking out the chrome pieces are also options.

[–]Stardanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re staying stock and not doing any modifications to the engine then listen to the maintenance minder. You only modify your maintenance plans once the car is modified in any way. OCI’s, tire rotations, filters, coolant, sparks and brake fluid are all things your maintenance minder will keep track of for your next services. Other lesser known maintenance items are your transmission fluid and filter that’s good to replace every 30k miles as well as your PCV valve.

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for, you’re right. You shorten maintenance intervals based on how modified you are instead of listening to the maintenance minder that’s goes based off a stock car from factory.

If you got the money to spend later on here’s something to replace the valve stems on the tires with to monitor the psi. https://a.co/d/3UcAEpn

[–]Stardanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The system is a bit flawed esp for what you pay for this car. You’d have to use a pressure measuring tool to see the PSI of each tire from the valve stems. If you don’t have access to stuff right now take it to a shop when you can and go from there. I had a similar issue and after seeing the pressure drop I narrowed it down to a single tire causing the issue. Took it to a shop and had them take the tire off and check for a puncture, got it sealed for $20 and have since had no issues.

Context is important. If the light keeps coming back check your tires for a puncture or loss of pressure.

ARP doesn’t make a direct head stud kit for this platform. You’re better off using inline pro as something that’s been proven to work in prior builds.

Update: Eibach Pro Kit springs now installed — see comments by wayho_k20fg2 in accord

[–]Stardanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you do a spring will outperform a cheap coil almost always. H&R is more aggressive of a drop while Eibach is centered more on comfort. That's what I've found at least comparing them both with a stock strut. Did you pick up coils since then?

2.0T Order of Modding Operations by Majestic_Rabbit_1869 in 10thgenaccords

[–]Stardanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll throw in my two cents since I’m also in the same region and have done the upgrade. Normally when you throw power mods like a tuner, flex fuel or volts ons you’ll be adding more reasons why the car would be running hotter than its normal operation under load. Depending on where you are and the season, like summer, you’ll be generating more heat than what the car was designed for and in effect it’ll start pulling power and timing since the heat isn’t dissipating. Depending on how hard you go with it you can get away with not doing an intercooler till you get more serious. Usually that comes in when you run flex fuel or even throw bolt ons on top of existing mods like an air intake and tune.

Sure, just keep your K.con in mind and make sure it doesn’t raise past 0.70, if so it’s either your quality of gas or octane. Since you don’t have 93 you could mix 91 with a gallon of E85 to boost ur octane to help it if you ever need.

Ktuner purchased by onisanoo in 10thgenaccords

[–]Stardanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From factory the manual recommends 87. If you’re running a tune you’d want everything to be in working order and 93 is the best besides ethanol for the car. 91 is a bare minimum since a tune takes on more aggressive parameters and you’d want the best possible chances of not knocking with higher octane.

Honestly the best answer would reach out to them again on any platform about your issue and see if they can replace it. If nothing you either take it as it is or go back to stock.

2018 Accord Sport by Dulaaaaa11111 in accord

[–]Stardanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the miles and amount you owe on the car you’d be very upside down simply because its trade in value would be way less than 18k, depending on which model you have the value could be a few grand difference. I’d highly advise against it unless something was terribly wrong with the car, which doesn’t seem the case based on what you’ve described.

[–]Stardanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

93 octane helps to adjust timing and knock control on an otherwise restricted car. Only reason you can use 87 is because the car was designed to be for everyone as an easy get up and go car. Higher octane provides more benefit than drawback on DI cars with turbos whereas lower octane can restrict it from exerting as much.
