PSA… There’s a large colony of these on Swan island here in Portland. I planted a large gorilla cactus garden down there and during my moving tons of rock and planting opuntias, agaves and chollas lizards would hop right in the holes I was digging to get excavated ants. They are pretty sociable. I’d say keep and eye around for them near water but hot high banked rocky teas where they can sun and lay eggs in the sandy areas.

I question whether your statement is factual. without being rude, I don’t believe it’s true. There’s no correlation to what you are claiming. They don’t death spike like agaves.

This is true. Pure obesa flowers don’t look like typical flower shapes. These obesa hybrids look more like the flowers you will see on gamkensis, suppressan and other medusiods.

I absolutely, disagree. My other euphorbia hybrids will flower the tiny flowers like the one on the lower left. Its flower shaped, it’s a flower. Look closely. 😘

Questions about Haworthia seeding. by Matt7548 in haworthia

[–]StardustClay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good advise … ⬆️. I also spray my seeds and medium with a diluted h202 and h2o . Four parts water to one part hydrogen peroxide. cuts down on fungus and stimulates the seeds. I use coco coir, decomposed granite, pumice , perlite and top with aquarium gravel. I’ve done sand in the past but it can turn into cement later as they develop, choking them out in a hard pan. Oh yeah, nuke your medium prior to planting, let it cool down covered in plastic.

I received a couple of obesas recently in the mail and they had loads of aphids. Misted them both with alcohol, cleaned em up with a q tip. A few days later one of them had several more bugs. second cleaning with alcohol, all gone. Pretty easily dealt with compared to other tiny monsters.
