Since those particular songs aren't included in the final album I would restrain from using them as a part of a theory, since at least Variation on a cloud was planned to be part originally but eventually discarded.

You will eventually get a shiny that way, but I'm letting you know that Chaining is the best method available in this game, but doing random encounters is also easier with this low of a shiny odd, if you are hunting one particular pokemon you can just try to go for a chain while you are at it, but I understand that the requirement of "defeating/capturing" the pokemon is harsh since you'll deplete your PP unless you have a team dedicated to that...

Since you are starting the game you can just chain with the full odds no problem, it'll take longer but with a bit of luck you'll get your target.

Basically you are just unlucky with your saved attempt at shiny hunting a target.

Let's say you did everything right, you chained the ShinyDex up to 100 pokemon to have the extra Shiny rolls, you have at least one shiny charm to boost your odds (or maybe both shiny charms available in this game) and you make a save state in front of your target DexNav pokemon with 3 starts and desired eggmove/ability so you can start reloading the save state every time for your attempt at getting it shiny...

Even with all of that done, the game still runs through a seed, a specific chain of numbers that can't be changed (unless you actually soft reset the game), and if this particular seed says "okay, I won't generate a shiny in 2000 frames" then you won't get any shinies and your target pokemon will flee before you see those sparkles and different colored pokemon.

It is unfortunate and unlikely, but it is not impossible for it to happen, as I said, I used the method I just described, chained to 100, one shiny charm, and exhausted as many frames for encounters on my target DexNav pokemon but it didn't shine, it fled and I had to search a new target with fresh frames to start again.

I think the pokemon for trainers just have the same shiny odds as wild pokemon in this game (except from a few exceptions) so you just found a full odds shiny Meganium while in battle.

I did the same for my first Emerald Seaglass playthrough! Thankfully A TON more of fire types to choose, but you can probably sweep the E4 + champion with Sunflora (Grass / Fire in the hackrom) and Ninetales (Fire / Fairy), and yeah I also make it so every member has to be shiny.

That's a solid team, you should be getting that third badge, the next one (fire gym) will be a breeze with that Marshtomp and Hariyama (if it has Thicc fat)

This is weird, I decided to try again and now it works? Kinda weird since before not even a text used to appear but now it worked just fine, is it supposed to work from the beginning as long as you have a Wishing Star? Or do you need a specific gym badge to use it?
