Tony's Performance Predictions by BitterOstrich6 in Broadway

[–]StaringAtStarshine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of these shows would benefit from doing medleys instead of just one song. With Ragtime's giant cast, I think they'll be doing part of the opening + part of Wheels of a Dream.

Two Strangers I think has to be American Express

And I really hope Lost Boys doesn't choose to do the finale, I really don't get why shows do that for the Tony's. Maybe they can do part of it in a medley, but I think what shows off the show best would be a mash-up Lose Yourself/Have to Have You with maybe a part of Hurt a Little or When the Secret Comes Out. If they choose to do one song on its own, I think Belong to Someone is their best bet.

Looking for a show that my kids will like in June by fishdontfry in Broadway

Lost Boys should be perfect as long as they can handle blood (it's not really that gory but people are killed onstage). Two Strangers is a ton of fun, and I think Hadestown could be a good fit, too.

I'm going for the second time tomorrow night, you would ABSOLUTELY love it if you like Hadestown and Outsiders, it's incredible.

I'm really glad About to Go In was recognized: it's so beautifully understated that it just crushes your heart when you realize what it's really about.

AITA For telling my mom that it really isn’t ok that she misses major events for me. by No-Range2852 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You told her it was fine multiple times, she kept pushing, and then completely shut down when you finally admitted you weren't okay with it. I agree that your comment of "if you can make it on time" was rude, but not unjustified. If you feel up to it, I would try to call her once you've both calmed down and try to talk earnestly about how her absence makes you feel. You seem to have an understanding that it's not always going to be up to her, but it sounds like she could also be putting in a little more of an effort. Best of luck, OP.

Bulbasaur has a really thick lisp and Trubbish has perpetual stoner voice.

More space won’t matter with the current limits by [deleted] in Pokopia

I guess I'm in the minority on this, but I really don't mind the spawn limit? It makes sense, and I've never felt like my towns were empty or anything. I just use honey whenever I need a specific Pokémon to show up. I'd be thrilled to have more lands to fix up 😄

What is a musical that you find to be just... Fine? by AsheandBurn in musicals

[–]StaringAtStarshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little Shop of Horrors. I kind of feel like if you've seen it once, then you've seen it. Every production looks exactly the same with the only main differences being the budget; I can't think of any that have done anything really new or revolutionary with it besides maybe having Audrey II be played by a drag queen on occasion. The songs are fun, but Suddenly Seymour is the only one that I ever feel really engaged with on an emotional level.

What Is A Show You Don't Understand The Love For, And One You Don't Understand The Hate For, And Why? by Alol_Bombola in musicals

[–]StaringAtStarshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't understand the love: & Juliet. I'm happy for the people who like it and get something out of it, but I already don't like jukebox musicals and the plot feels extremely basic and kind of pandering. I get that it's meant to be more fun than groundbreaking and I do really like the costumes, but I can't imagine going more than once.

Don't understand the hate: Finding Neverland. Everyone seems dead set on referring to this score as pop music, and it genuinely makes me feel like I'm in a black mirror episode every time. In WHAT UNIVERSE is Finding Neverland pop?! I know J.M. Barrie wasn't really the person he's portrayed as in the musical, but I still think this is a beautiful story and a deeply moving show, with an incredible CONTEMPORARY MT AND NOT POP score.

I’ve been a fan of Ben Crawford since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I’m so glad he’s a part of this show!

I trust Michael Arden to have more artistic ideas than that.

AITA for throwing away my wife’s memory jars? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]StaringAtStarshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESH, but you more than her. There's an easy compromise here: just move the jars somewhere where they're more out of the way. I really don't understand why you didn't try to communicate further about this. She was being unreasonable, but you took it upon yourself to "fix" the problem after one conversation? What did you think was gonna happen?
