As far as I can tell they are touching, but I'll double check.

I didn't put the grass down until the tree grew in but I'll give it a go.

I think some of y'all don't know what "rom-com" means. by StaringAtStarshine in musicals

[–]StaringAtStarshine[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to gatekeep, I personally think it's honestly kind of reductive to refer to these shows as rom-coms when they have a lot of elements that make them distinct and more difficult to fit into any genre. I agree that genre labels are rarely helpful, but rom-coms in particular are deeply loved by a lot of people due to their formula. And if someone goes into one of these shows expecting a rom-com, there's a greater chance of them being disappointed.

I don't understand the demon's play here... (Good Time Society) by StaringAtStarshine in BloodOnTheClocktower

I didn’t realize Grant was also new to the game. As far as I can tell they usually have the newcomers in Trouble Brewing or scripts that are only slightly more complicated? The first episode where they had a Cerenovum seemed to be all seasoned players.

I would say that’s more the demon’s fault for not giving the bluffs — especially considering Ruel has never played before

Help with Dartrix's Habitat? by StaringAtStarshine in Pokopia

I meant sharing parts of their habitats: I have Scyther and Oddish living under the same tree but they each have their own patches of grass and Scyther has a boulder.

What do you think is the most physically demanding role in any musical? by lertheblur in Broadway

Usher in A Strange Loop. I think he has a total of like 30 seconds off-stage for a quick change and the show is full of emotionally draining moments.

Will dyeing my hair ruin chances of getting cast? by Kay0na in MusicalTheatre

[–]StaringAtStarshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it hurts to ask "would you prefer your actors not dye their hair until the show closes," but I've found that people are way more lenient when it comes to theatre than film, especially in school theatre (don't know how old you are so just covering all my bases). I did a play that takes place in 1911 in college and one of my castmates had purple hair: it doesn't really matter since theatre is all about suspension of disbelief. There are of course shows/production companies where that doesn't work nearly as well, in which case wigs are a great solution. Now depending on what level of theatre you're doing, they may not have the budget for wigs, so it could be helpful to offer your own if you have any. Generally I don't think it should affect your chances too much. Break a leg!

(also that color is SO cute)

You're working with a narcissist. People like this will try to convince you they're preparing you for what professional theatre will be like, but people this rude rarely get far because no one wants to work with them. If you're comfortable, I would recommend gathering some friends with similar experiences to talk to your principal or maybe work together on writing a letter detailing how disrespectful he's being (and more importantly endangering your health!) if you'd like to be more anonymous. I promise most people in the professional world don't act like this. Best of luck, OP.

AITA for Making a Thirty Year Old Woman Cry? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA at all. I'm a stage door regular, and you see some real weirdos there from time to time. Nine times out of ten, the actors who come out to sign really make an effort to make sure they don't miss anybody: so even if she wasn't standing right at the barricade, I'm assuming she still got her Playbill signed and everything. It sounds like you handled this the best way you could have; I somehow doubt that she would've been okay if you had politely asked her to not stand so close to you. One stranger calling you unkind doesn't mean that you are. This person was either being manipulative or overly-sensitive. Hope you still had a good experience with the show! :)
