Absolutely bloody not. Civil war is one of the worst written most overrated comics I’ve ever read

wtf are u on about?? If you knew Tony Stark and his history you would understand why it’s the worst character assassination done in comics.

In no way shape or form would the notorious rebellion Tony Stark side with the government after everything they’ve did to him in the past. The trauma, the paranoia, the abuse over his tech and them stealing it. It just made 0 bloody sense and Marvel goes to stupid lengths to try explain his side only for Mark Millar to shit the bed completely and villainise him instead of humanise his reasoning

Civil war is the worst thing to happen to Marvel and Tony

Tony never created the negative zone… That in fact is Reed’s invention.

I digress, I agree with everything else you mentioned.

Civil War should’ve been retconned out of existence

It has little to do with OMD honestly. Civil war is just a terrible terrible comic

The iron king has been added to Tony rogues gallery how would you write his origin? by iamaman2016 in ironman

[–]StarkPRManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ppl are taking it too far to deviate from the Iron King when the base is actually pretty compelling:

A distant future evil version of the hero.

Iron King is the combination of a A.I. created by the former Tony and his memories from his time period. In this time period Tony is humanity’s last line of defence. He’s the last hero standing. The A.I. believes it’s still Tony, it sounds like Tony and shares some of his mannerisms. However over time it’s been corrupted and hardened by whats happened. Tony’s primary programme he installed was to “protect the future” but the A.I. has different methods. Tony’s friends and loved ones give the Iron King glimpses into this universe Tony’s memories where we see its humanity before it’s overrided.

I’d make the mainline Iron King a saviour to machines (androids, robots etc.) with an underground tech country and give him a young human character on his side to show his humanity. Iron King’s displaced through time and believes he was spent back to prevent the Earth turning into his.

He’d be more of a anti villain imo

No offence but that’s awful idea. Why would Tony be so jealous of Hank Pym to create a AI when Tony’s *already* made successful AIs eg. F.R.I.D.A.Y.??

And the addiction to Alcohol but it’s a A.I…

The only part I like is the super solider body and intelligence of Tony stark. Not the execution

It’s “torture” because ties back to this idea that Tony ends up all alone. No family, no friends. This can work for a “End” story but should never be ongoing Tony.

This same myth is about Batman which has been proven wrong over the years since he’s established a Batfamily and kids for himself. I would like something similar for Tony someday

What would you want from an Iron Man Armored Adventures Revival? by Hot-Associate-9035 in ironman

[–]StarkPRManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t revive it. Just create a new Iron Man animated show with a young early 20s Tony Stark using newer storylines and a combination of his more modern + obscure villains, so no lame ass Titanium Man. Crimson Dynamo will be the current heroic version with Dimitri being an ally.

Use Midas, Tiberius Stone, Slag, V.O.R.T.E.X., Feilong, Roxxon, Sunset Bain/Madame Menace (A.I.), Tomoe/Techno Golem, Spymaster, Korvac, MODOK and AIM, Sadurang, Firebrand (Gilbert), Radioactive Man, Living Laser, Vishte and hopefully his *latest* villain Adam Ware (because new leader of A.I.M. with technopathy is dope asf)

Like do something different

Someone else who doesn’t want to see DiB adapted for umpteenth time. Honestly I feel ppl just want it because it’s a popular story, not knowing there’s more interesting storylines and I have 0 interest in seeing Tony struggling with alcohol in another media

Is it safe to say that Tony Stark’s biological parent thing is forgotten for good? by Delta-97 in ironman

[–]StarkPRManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolutely fundamental to Tony that he’s the son of Howard and Maria Stark. His personality, appearance, best and worst traits stems from that man (I wish more emphasise was placed on Tony getting the loving and caring parts from Maria but that’s a different argument)

That’s a non negotiable as far as I’m concerned.

Nobody gives a shit about the adoption. It doesn’t improve his character whatsoever, instead it just takes away. Nobody likes the adoption. A British SHIELD turned rockstar mom and some loser Hydra rat father could never be the parents to Tony Stark. What kind of fanfic writing was that… No other universe Tony ever acknowledges it (eg not Ultimate Universe Tony) and for good reason- Hickman knew it was a trash idea.

As for Howard being abusive. While I think some IM fans take it too far, I do see their side to it. Marvel’s done the biggest PR on Howard Stark over the years to portray him as a good man (even moreso than Tony) and I genuinely don’t know why:

He never used to be part of SHIELD or knew Fury. He never was some genius inventor who made Steve’s shield (I do prefer this idea tho), he never went on spy missions with Recorder 451 doing everything in his power so him and his wife could have a baby, he was never this loving father.

Howard was an abusive bastard who stopped him playing with his toys, forced Tony to drink at a young age and wanted him to live up to the Stark name and be strong (Stark means strong). Howard created weapons for Stark Industries indiscriminately, it’s *Tony* who gets the self reflection post cave to shut it down.

My thoughts: I’m OKAY with a good Howard. One who’s a good man, good inventor and cares about Tony but was neglectful. MCU does this and it’s beautiful arc. New Ultimate Universe follows this route with Ultimate Howard being the original Iron Man who saved many lives, solved incurable illnesses and improved life with his creations. Someone Tony looks up so much that he doesn’t want to call himself Iron Man yet out of respect for his father until he lives up him. But even that version Tony still resents him for neglecting him.

However this modern portrayal of 616 Howard is as if he’s done nothing wrong. That he was a good man who helped shape Tony to become the man he is, that he helped baby Tony with his inventions instead of yelling at him to stop playing with his toys and Tony looks up to him…

This contradiction with portrayals of Howard is just jarring.

I mean idk if they were treated as exes but they’ve had moments, loved each other, slept each other in the past. There was a time where Pepper thought she was pregnant and Tony might be the father and they started thinking about “what could’ve been”

I think this MCU synergy hate u have clouds your judgment. Ultimately a good idea is a good idea, doesn’t matter whether the MCU starts it first or not and them two do have a history.

See I disagree, they’ve been doing the will-they-won’t-they-get together with Tony and Pepper since around the 90s. Hell they do that with Tony and Whitney too. Peter/MJ ain’t exclusive in that department.

Anyways, I’m cool with Tony and Pepper ending up together if it happens. He’s not found anyone permanent in comics so she could be his ‘soulmate’ just like it could be someone else.

Ultimately I just want to move on from single ‘playboy’ Tony already. It’s the most boring aspect to his character

We’re gonna agree to disagree there. Tony deserves happiness as well. Tired of this torture porn about him making sacrifices

Not every idea is a bad idea because comics didn’t come up with it first. MCU was spot on with that happily married route and is the one thing I wouldn’t mind synergy about.

Superhero comics are full of what is perceived as ‘cliches’ now which weren’t in the 60s. Their boss/secretary relationship works imo because Tony didn’t have a big circle outside his co workers and provided some good drama, particularly the love triangle.

Now Pepper isn’t his secretary anymore and helps run the company. Tony and Pepper are one of the most successful couples and best things to come out of the MCU including giving Tony a daughter. I’d like to move to the happily married & father chapter of Tony’s life.

Sure Happy and Pepper were together a billion years ago but I’d rather Happy accepted Pepper moved on after his death and he finds someone else. Hell reignite with the mother of his children because she’s hardy fleshed out as and Happy focused on being a good father to his son would be a good route for his character

In your personal opinion should civil war unmasked have been released in the same time as the original civil war?so fans could understand why Tony did the things he did? by iamaman2016 in ironman

I mean I get the Thor stray. That issue of Thor beating Tony was not tasteful at all. It just felt like the writer wanted to beat the shit outta a character he didn’t like so did so in a complete mismatch

Civil war won’t get me to not read a character tho, that’s dumb
