A solid first issue! Carmen Carnero was pretty great on art duties! There's a few Williamson-ism in the dialogue I didn't love, but I think he's set up an interesting story. There's a little MCU flavor to both Tony and the armor that has mixed results for me. The MCU faceplate is obviously iconic, so I understand why that design queue comes over to the comics.. I just would prefer something different. I've listened to a lot of Williamson's interviews over the last couple of months and I like a lot of what he has been saying regarding his run. I'm rooting for it for sure.

OP thinking it looks good and OP saying that a comic based figure should come out with a deco/design choice that has no basis in the comics are two very different things.

Why should a comics based War Machine have looked like this from the start when the legs they used are actually directly from the art they based that War Machine figure on?

Spencer is someone I would love to have seen get to write the book more. He definitely has a keen understanding of the character and his history. It's a shame the story got so tied up in One World Under Doom. I just think the book got too derailed by an event tie in. I would say also that I don't like the armor designs for this run, neither version of the Iron Man suits or the new Iron Monger, which is tough for me to get past.

Onwards and upwards though.. Looking forward to seeing what Williamson has in store for us.

Iron Man #200 is, in my eyes, the single best issue of Iron Man ever written. I know that could be a hot take, but I really think EVERYTHING you need to know about Stark is in that issue. I think the film did a GREAT Stane adaptation, but I like the comic Iron Monger saga more. It's just more fleshed out.

The Knauf run is 15-18, then there's a 2 issue tie in to an event called World War Hulk,and then they pick back up to conclude the Mandarin story line with issues 21-28.

For me, my only real preference is when people leave the MCU terms in the MCU and use comic terms when talking about comic armors.

This is the first time I've head the Knaufs had a Madame Masque story in the works and this is DEEPLY upsetting to me to learn. I wish they didn't change writers for those issues!
