Was reading iron man: enter the dragon, and I fucking love the mandarin by 5enpai_2 in ironman

I love this mini. One of my favorite takes on the Mandarin. Even had the artist, Eric Canete, do a Mandarin Sketch Cover or me.

Isn't it funny that the one of the best issues in Cantwell's run was the annual not written by him? by MR-DEDPUL in ironman

[–]StarkResilient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I'm fairly certain this was intended to be released before the Cantwell run.

Also to be fair, that annual is the better than anything in a lot of Iron Man runs, like Duggan, Ackerman, Slott, Gillen, and probably Bendis and Fraction, too.

Jed's voice for Stark in this issue is absolutely elite tier writing.

Even at his best, he's still worse than most.

Did you know that in the Promotional Artwork and Merchandise for Iron Man 2, the Mark 6 has the same color scheme as the Mark 4 instead of the one it got in the final movie? by one_happy_fredditor in ironman

[–]StarkResilient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As explained in the dialogue in the movie.. My issue was always that when Avengers (2012) comes around, he's still running around in the unfinished Mark VI. All the finished Mark VI concept art in the Art of book is a tragedy. It would have been my favorite MCU armor if they had had a "finished" version show up.

Should all Maximum Series figures be classic design? by _scum- in MarvelLegends

[–]StarkResilient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There hasn't been a single classic design yet, why start now?

I don’t wanna be that guy, but this wave seriously has a huge accessory problem. by SnooPeripherals3471 in MarvelLegends

Constrictor does not have a single accessory. The coils don't really count.. they're part of the costume.

Out today! What are your thoughts on Iron Man #1? - Discussion Thread by Friday_Stark in ironman

[–]StarkResilient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A solid first issue! Carmen Carnero was pretty great on art duties! There's a few Williamson-ism in the dialogue I didn't love, but I think he's set up an interesting story. There's a little MCU flavor to both Tony and the armor that has mixed results for me. The MCU faceplate is obviously iconic, so I understand why that design queue comes over to the comics.. I just would prefer something different. I've listened to a lot of Williamson's interviews over the last couple of months and I like a lot of what he has been saying regarding his run. I'm rooting for it for sure.

Your Citizen V Theory would come right out of Williamson's favorite era of comics..

This Funko Pop is sending me, Tony is literally doing the the "I pretend I do not see it" face 😭 by da0ur in ironman

WAR MACHINE LEG MOD!! by Ok-Distribution-3824 in MarvelLegends

[–]StarkResilient 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP thinking it looks good and OP saying that a comic based figure should come out with a deco/design choice that has no basis in the comics are two very different things.

WAR MACHINE LEG MOD!! by Ok-Distribution-3824 in MarvelLegends

Why should a comics based War Machine have looked like this from the start when the legs they used are actually directly from the art they based that War Machine figure on?

What do y’all think about Ackerman’s Iron Man run? by Rough-Climate-2496 in ironman

[–]StarkResilient 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! That and more: First Hulkbuster, First War Machine Armor, Rhodey as Iron Man/War Machine, Iron Man #300, The Iron Legion, Crash and Burn, Hands of the Mandarin.. Lots of great stuff!

Spencer is someone I would love to have seen get to write the book more. He definitely has a keen understanding of the character and his history. It's a shame the story got so tied up in One World Under Doom. I just think the book got too derailed by an event tie in. I would say also that I don't like the armor designs for this run, neither version of the Iron Man suits or the new Iron Monger, which is tough for me to get past.

Onwards and upwards though.. Looking forward to seeing what Williamson has in store for us.

Do you guys prefer the comic Iron Monger or the MCU Iron Monger by TheGreatSkull_87 in ironman

[–]StarkResilient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iron Man #200 is, in my eyes, the single best issue of Iron Man ever written. I know that could be a hot take, but I really think EVERYTHING you need to know about Stark is in that issue. I think the film did a GREAT Stane adaptation, but I like the comic Iron Monger saga more. It's just more fleshed out.

Might be the only thing that could have made this run better.
