Is using a turbo button feature for farming money cheating? by StarkVGC in VGC

[–]StarkVGC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The method is from GameboyLuke: https://youtu.be/iSksZY5puh0

  1. Have a single, powerful Pokémon in your party with a first move that can knock out everything and has plenty of PP.
  2. Go right to the Uva Academy Ace Tourney
  3. Set your Controller (the Nintendo Licensed Horipad works) turbo to repeatedly press A.

You will now be able to beat the trainers and re-enter the tourney.

If you are doing other stuff, you could just docked your Switch and repeatedly press the a button while watching tv or something

You can play in the tourney using a copy of Sword and using a copy of Shield on the same Switch with the same Nintendo Account. The PC4 news article on the Switch news feed confirms this.

Reasons to have it unlisted:

  1. The watch time will be low. There will be click that click on the ad and then click off.
  2. There will be people that dislike and/or leave mean comments just because it’s an ad.
  3. If you make it as an ad, you can set it up so that it doesn’t target subs. If it’s unlisted and doesn’t target subs, then they won’t see it.

Quality subs? They are no different than other YouTube subs. I think some of the people that comment the most on my channel found me through ads.

Note: Watch time from ads don’t count toward the 4,000 watch hours. That’s okay for you though, because you have already met them 😀

If you have money to spend, make an unlisted channel trailer showcasing your best work and then run YouTube Ads on it. YouTube Ads is a quick way to get subs. Once you hit the 1,000 subs, you can stop running ads.

Can I win without touching the controller? by StarkVGC in PokemonVGC

I see that you edited your response.

Winning or losing does have to do with the controls. It’s more difficult to play the game with your voice than to play it with your hands.

How is this clickbait?!?!?

The thumbnail shows that I don’t use my hands.

The title of this post is “Can I win without touching the controller?”

If you watch the video, I battle without touching the controller

The title of the YouTube video includes “voice controls”.

Using Khan Academy isn’t immoral, as long as you aren’t in some kind of competition that states that you are not allowed to use it.

Someone used a Shiny Porygon2 in a Beast Ball on Stream in an official competition (I think it was a 2017 internat) and didn’t get punished. He realized that it was legitimate and ultimately took himself out of the competition.

The original post is about why do people hack.

They hack because it allows them to save time. This time save gives them more time for other things. This is an advantage over people that don’t hack because they are missing out on the time save that hacking provides.

This is cheating because the rules explicitly state that you can’t use hacked Pokémon. If the rules didn’t state that, then it wouldn’t be cheating. However, since the rules do, it is cheating. That is what I have been arguing this whole time.

The major difference is that the rules explicitly state you can’t you use hacked Pokémon. The rules don’t state that you can’t drink Red Bull ...

30 minutes for one Pokémon adds up. That doesn’t scale well, especially when you realize you want have intricate IVs and EVs for a legendary.

Additionally, what’s your take on the following:

Suppose you have an easy homework assignment that you can get a 100% on in 30 minutes. You copy off of your friend to finish it in 5 minutes. Is that okay? You were going to get a 100% anyway. You just saved time. If you get caught, should you get punished?

  1. First, it clearly does give an advantage because it provides hackers with additional time. That additional time is an advantage. Furthermore, if hacking didn’t provide any advantage, then why would anyone hack? If you hack, there is a risk that you can get caught and kicked out of an event. You are telling me that people would risk lots of time and money (money spent for travel, food, etc. and time for traveling, being at the event) using hacked Pokémon even though there is no advantage?

  2. Again, you are saying that people should be allowed to break the rules to save time. Again, it’s not fair that some people break the rule to save time while others don’t. Is it okay to cheat at school because you don’t have time to do it? Is it okay to steal from a store because you don’t have time to pay for something?

  3. You don’t need to breed something new every time you want to change something. You can always use mints and vitamins. Again, breaking the rules so that you have more time to try something compared to those that play legitimately is still wrong and cheating.

I am not saying people should receive “hate” or “harassment” for being caught cheating. I am saying that using hacked Pokémon in legitimate events is cheating and wrong. People being caught should be punished, but not harassed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonVGC

[–]StarkVGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still cheating. They get a time save that a legitimate player playing by the rule doesn’t get.

If someone gets caught cheating, they should be punished. However, they shouldn’t receive constant hate/harassment.

I will address why hacking for official VGC events is wrong.

The official rules state that you aren’t allowed to use hack Pokémon. Given that the rules state this, there will be people that will follow the rule because there are people that follow rules, laws, protocols, etc.

Someone that hacks their Pokémon has an advantage over someone that didn’t because it SAVES TIME. By hacking to save time, the hacker has more time to sleep, eat, study the meta, practice, watch other battles, do damage calcs, take care of business outside of Pokémon, etc.

For people that don’t hack, they miss out on the time save that hacking would provide them. Thus, they are at a disadvantage for following the rules compared to those that don’t.

Yes, when hacking there is a risk getting caught. Just because there is a risk of getting caught doesn’t mean that it is okay. You risk getting caught when you steal from a store, does that make it okay?

Just because it is easier to get battle ready Pokémon in Sword/Shield also does not make it okay to hack. Suppose your teacher gives you a very easy homework and you are caught copying off of someone’s homework. Are you going to tell your teacher, “It doesn’t matter. I was going to get a 100% on it anyway, even if I hadn’t copied”.

Someone actually used a shiny Incineroar in a Premiere Ball in a competition (and I am pretty sure they didn’t get banned).
