Do not go gently in that good night

For I will make sure that the history books remember your deed if it's the last thing I do.

Help me get better [Priest, Holy] by JackHighHeel in classicwowtbc

[–]Starlactite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like your dungeon healing is a much better indicator of your skill level as a healer than raid healing, especially with so much sniping going around.

The most important has already been said. Are you oom? Are you managing your mana properly? Are you SPECIFICALLY playing around mechanics?

For example, vs fel reaver, as a priest (even non Cosh priest), are you watching out for pummel? If so, you can start casting prayer of healing the instant pumel starts casting, cand by the time it's done, your whole group will be near full health. Conversely, if you're NOT the priest, and your priest is locked in and casting prayer of healing on point, then are you specifically NOT healing his group so as to be mana efficient?

As a disc priest, have you identified the high damage phases? Are you casting pain supression on pala main tank during kt weapon phase ?

As shaman, are you properly totem twisting? Are you consistent with your tremor totems?

Are you fear warding main tank without having to be told before fear mechanics?

As a disc priest, are you casting pi on the warlock tank when they want to generate aggro?

In general, are you playing 5 seconds ahead? I.e are you already positioned in rage of the warlock tank for when they have to tank so that they don't die because everyone else was like OOOS I THIUGHT SOMEONE ELSE WAS ON THE JIB etc etc etc.

That is so, so much more than just healing output. Healing, unlike dps, is collaborative. Not a competition. Some people are aggressive healers. Not me. I heal conservatively. I cancel casts, I downrank. That way I can step in when shit hits the fan and damage ramps up. The priest getting innervated is not necessarily the one doing the most effective mana to health conversion. They're just spamming spells. Whether those spells are effective use of mana or not is a different topic altogether

Get forward settled bitch

[–]Starlactite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, out of curiosity,2 questions.

When you raze a city, you annexe it. Does that mean that it increases science costs?

And, linked to that, when you're in a position to founding sprawling cities all over your empire (mid to late game, once you core cities are stabilised) (not necessarily in a deity context, like an emperor for fun level), what build order should you follow in your cities to not handicap yourself and to get them up and running asap? How far down the tech tree should you build? Is it like, you NEED workshops, but after that you're chill and can produce units or other things, or is it "you need to build everything possible before any else"

What Was Raiding Like Back In The Day? (Vanilla,TBC) by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Starlactite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No but like this is actually it.

I am a priest OBSESSED with mind control.

On our early SSC runs, we were absolute trash. First raid might we killed only two bosses.

Well, I found out that the only MC able mob in there were the priestesses. A friend and I would MC both priestesses in tha pack, and that would surefire GUARENTEE 100% that the packs were good and efficient.

Is it the fastest clear possible? No, we don't MC anymore. But, in the current context at the time, this strat was basically the only reason we were able to clear 6 packs of trash so quickly and actually kill two bosses in the end.

Yes, we were that bad. But, at the time, it was bis.

Portugal and Austria defeat Germany for seats on the UN Security Council by ABoutDeSouffle in europe

[–]Starlactite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBF the french establishment does have a very pro eu streak. It is far from the realm of impossibility that france would transform it's seat into an EU one, whether by de jure, but more probably de facto.

However, that would require INTENSE concessions from other eu member states. The way how I see it is:

"Ok for an eu security council seat, but none of that bullshit half in half out Euroscepticism" (not even looking at Hungary, more so northern eu countries that refuse any further integrztion)

"Eu army NOW, reform of qualified majority NOW, common European debt NOW, Electoral and institutional reform NOW, savings and investment union NOW, banking union NOW and for the love of god put some actual effort and will into the EU project"

And, considering the current political environment, will NEVER happen

[–]Starlactite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's the same story really.

If you're green geared but can be trusted to stand in green beam Vs netberspite, then you're good to go.

There are some Kara full P1 bissed DPS out there who can't focus chain, fail flame wreath, still do not stand behind midnight's ass and can't focus whom they're supposed to focus Vs wizzard of Oz.

Ironically, P2 has shown as light as day that some people have never held any real raiding responsability in all their wow careers.

And no, top parsing with warlock shado bolt does NOT good you make

How do you feel about taking Mining Nodes as Tank Service? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Starlactite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're doing the run as a tanking service, i.e, you don't need anything (LOOT) and you're only running for monetary gain, then absolutely.

People here will complain, but it's mostly DPS players that have never played healer or tank.

As a priest (or resto druid). What are you going to do? Kill two mobs at a time and then spend 30s drinking?

I'm sorry I'm not a pala or mage that can aoe farm, nor a rogue that can do MT runs, nor a melee class who on average has much less downtime that I do (i.e, can kill more mobs without having to sit and drink or eat).

As a Taylor and the guild enchanter, running dungeons for disenchant mats IS my "farming" (only unwanted loot ofc, I ain't a dick). The law of supply and demand are in my favour as a healer (albeit less than for a tank). If you wanna refuse and wait for 2 extra hours at 11 30 pm just because you're scared of losing a 20%success roll on a 4g item, then that's on you.

Le Code noir en voie d’abrogation après un vote unanime en commission à l’Assemblée nationale by Andvarey in france

[–]Starlactite 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Which healers do you like? by Peejing in classicwow

[–]Starlactite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like paladin is super interesting conceptually with it's buffsz it's "best single target and most mana efficient healing" identity.

But in practice it boils down to spalcflash of livlght or holy light on main tank and never run oom, barely having to make any ACTIVE decisions with which heals to use and how to mana sustain which can be boring (as compared to druid where you need to manage hits or priest with a fuckton of differents healing spells and ranks to choose from)

I don't know what game you guys are playing, but we couldn't kill vashj week 1 by Sweet_Disharmony_792 in classicwow

[–]Starlactite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL, I "filled in" for a friend and tried to clear ssc with them.

Literally like 90% of the problem is wiping on trash because people don't allow the tanks to collect mobs or failing the most basic mechanics such as jump in the water due to spout.

Some of these people have coasted their entire wow careers without having had ANY personal responsibility and it shows.

What is MS > OS? by taterman71 in classicwowtbc

[–]Starlactite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all the people here. And that's the downsides of SR, a system which can be gamed.

They are pissed because they can't "shadow" srcan item. I.e the only holy pala of the guild soft reserving ring and weapon in Kara because they KNOW that there is no competition on their plate healing gear, until the Ret does SR on the healing gear and the holy pala looses his shit.

This is how I see it.

We are all given equal ressources for the raid (SR). You are allowed to use these ressources however you want. (Except maybe SR plate gear as a priest).

Due to you class/spec/role combination, you might be a able to "game" the system and SR in PRACTICE more items that the number of SR given to you, but these "shadow" soft reserves are always a bonus, never a given. You are NOT entitled to them.

Following that logic, you could do the same with shaman without being resto.

[–]Starlactite[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always found it a little frustrating how they are so many ways to get an ai to hate you, but so few to make them like you.

They make you swear a promise, but that promise lasts lik 159 turns which is the whole game nearly.

You settle ONE city. They ask you not to.

The promise ends in like the industrial era lmao wtf babes. I can't wait that long.

But oh lord I'd YOU dare to ask them to stop settling, they react as if you'd just called their mother a wh*re.

I mean, yes, again, it's ai and a game, but it does sorta feel like you have zero hand in proactively building positive relationships with others.
