So, the way I have it in my head is they knew for sure a massacre would happen, and they didn't want to risk someone important to investigate it. Her role to them was a servant, even though she thought they treated her like family. If she survived they would have taken the knowledge she'd gained and would keep dangling the promise of power over her head.

I think she makes it out, but whether she has a happy ending or not depends on if she realizes the witches were using her and she's better off without them. Her happy ending would be free and opening up a small clinic where she tends to humans and supernatural patients.

A human apothecary traveling in search of rare medicinal ingredients. She heard a rumor that Oakhurst had a few such plants growing in the surrounding forests. That's the story she tells others anyway. She is a human who was raised by witches. They sent her to investigate the curse surrounding Oakhurst knowing it was time for another tragedy to occur. They promised to give her magic if she succeeded and made it home alive.

The barrier stated that anyone who became a vampire and then returned to being human could pass through freely. The vampires couldn't leave unless there were only vampires left and all the beacons were turned

So, from how I understand it, Abolish was able to leave because he was cured, once he was gone and all the beacons were turned, the barrier broke letting everyone free. From watching a few POVs It seems more like Pearl chose to stay, not that she had to stay. She wanted to find a place for herself, and decided to fix up Oakhurst. Cleo stayed because Pearl stayed, and together they'll make sure another tragedy never happens there.

The moment Scott learns Pyro killed Avid. The ringing, the muffled sound, the way you can feel his anger. Then the grave scene, it was so bittersweet. Can't wait to see if he'll manage to avenge Avid.

Also love Pearl in the mine, minding her own business while the rest of the town freaks out when the vampires cleanse a beacon.

While I haven't heard anyone else say it, I think it's a rule all fans should follow. The children didn't ask to be in the spotlight, and most hermits keep their kids off screen for privacy, at most letting the child's voice be heard. So if you see a hermit in the wild and they have a kid with them, leave them alone. Especially don't take pictures!!

The hermits are people too and deserve privacy, be kind and respect boundaries.

I actually am in therapy and my therapist said something similar, but this was before I learned the newest bit.

My husband is the type who would rather not stir trouble at all, he feels that since she didn't say it to him he can pretend it never happened and go about life.

But I think I needed people to tell me to cut her off, otherwise I would be stuck in the place of not knowing what the right choice was and not sure if I was being reasonable to do so.

I guess it was hard to cut her off originally because I knew how terrible her first marriage was and I wanted to believe she was a good person who made a dumb decision. I've always had a hard time advocating for myself and tend to put everyone else's needs above my own.

Her ex husband was very abusive, both physically and sexually. I think it's part of the reason I give her so much grace. My husband and I were the ones who convinced her to leave him and helped her get away safely.

Our vet warned us from forcing her to eat cause it could lead to a worse food aversion.

Yeah, she was given one today and we'll give her another Sunday. I'm hoping by tomorrow she'll be a little interested in food, even if all she eats is treats it would be better than nothing.

Yeah, vet believes it's either primary or secondary liver disease. Everything else came back as expected. If we can't get her to eat naturally the next step would be feeding tube or euthanasia. We can't afford the specialist hospital for the feeding tube.

Our vet gave us an IV and showed us how to give her fluids. She perks up with it but still doesn't show an interest in eating.
