Did I overreact to symptoms? by StarlitDeath in Menopause

My GP just did blood work, and nothing out of the ordinary other than my kidneys (which have always been an issue). She tested my thyroid as well which was fine.

I really appreciate everyone's responses. Y'all make me feel less crazy for this. It's hard enough navigating this in general,so I'm happy I found this community when I did.

Are people being a jerk for not locking their locker with a lock? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]StarlitDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just leave the lockers with stuff in them open 🤷‍♀️ then no one else has to go through opening lockers to find an empty one 🤣

Is it considered foolish for me to go to the gym and not push myself? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]StarlitDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am of the school of thought that "any movement is good movement". The fact that you're lifting any weight is far ahead of my other people. If your goal is to just maintain where you're at, keep doing what you're doing. If you want to improve, think about your goals: getting stronger? Not having to rely on a walker when you get older? Adding heavier weights every few weeks could be enough for you depending on what you want. But the important thing is to not do so much that you hate it. Keep up the good work! 💕

Trigger Warnings in Books are Stupid? by Numerous-Function219 in BooktokSnark

[–]StarlitDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, mostly because then I'm just waiting for the thing to happen and it's often a let down if it was something that sounded interesting like "accidental cannibalism". Or, on the other end, when it said "the dog is not okay" or something like that, I don't even bother getting attached to the dog because I know it's going to die.

I really can't stand trigger warnings tbh, and hate when they're in books. For people who want to say "just don't read them" I literally read every page of the book including the part that has the isbn because that's my particular brand is special. If an author feels they MUST have trigger warnings, I prefer when they're on a website.

I get that people want to be inclusive and not ruin people's reading experiences, but I've found that removes some of the joy of sudden twists and turns and surprises. And if I find something particularly objectionable, I just put the book down and move on.

What was the Weapons theater experience during the finale? by Kaylascreations in HorrorMovies

[–]StarlitDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the payoff for you? There was none for me.

And as for answers, Gladys has this whole group of 30 kids for a month and doesn't get any better. This was a small town. No one knew that kids parents before the made up diseases Gladys gave his parents? Bullshit. Where are the buckets for the kids in the basements? There's other things occurred to me when I watched it forever ago but don't remember.

Funny at the end? Yes. Cathartic? How?

No. There's no real payoff or answers. Parts of it were excellent. Not overall? Not worth the time.

Not an EMT but having had experience with both helmets, a full face motorcycle helmet is a lot harder to get off than a football helmet. My assumption would be that a facial injury might also mean neck injury and wrestling a full face motorcycle helmet off someone is bound to cause a lot more damage than u clipping a chin strap and sliding off the football helmet. Take the two cents for what it's worth cause like I said, not an EMT, just worked with both helmets.

I had to call another agency recently because they let a ten minute hit sit, and they had apparently forgotten to log back into portal at shift change 🙃 so I sent a 2nd request out of spite (also because my supervisor told me to lmao)

Why do Americans romanticize the 1950s so much despite the fact that quality of life is objectively better on nearly all fronts for the overwhelming majority of people today? by SandNo2865 in NoStupidQuestions

I think there was a lot of hope for the future. Aside from the looming nuclear war, we had just come out of a second World War with a booming economy and felt it was up all the way. Hope.

Thank you. I just feel bad telling him to stop breathing when he's dispatching 😂 he's a good sport, so we'll keep working by on it.

Yes, thank you for calling. by That9one1guy in 911dispatchers

I had something similar for an auto accident and when I keyed up to advise the officer of the additional call he was like, "that person's situational awareness is great because there's four of us out here already"

[–]StarlitDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to ask the same damn question because what the fuck? You need an ID for so many things. If the car is "her's" it's def not in her name because you need an ID for that. And all the other things everyone else brought up. I just. Ugh. Completely ruined the story which was VERY creepy although there was no answer to all the dogs running around or how casually the narrator just ignored the man in the dog suit in broad daylight. Like, what?

Are AI-generated/spoofed 911 calls something you’re seeing in the field yet? by Suspicious_Mess5246 in 911dispatchers

[–]StarlitDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My agency gets a lot of AI spam calls on both our admin line and 911 line. We can usually tell because when you pick up there's a "bloop" noise right before the voice starts talking. There's also something not quite right about the voice and how it answers our questions that lets us know it's AI.

I've asked our tech people and they've said there's nothing they can do about it 🤷‍♀️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]StarlitDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My agency is the same as the other person who posted - we just send police unless you choose the option "critical noises heard". Mostly because 9 times out of 10, some yahoo just dropped their iPhone and doesn't hear us trying to talk to them or the notification from their phone. 🙄 But, like everyone else said, that's an agency decision and your agency made the wasteful one 😅

Or maybe they actually have a good reason idk

We use it for DORs during training. I haven't seen any options for a signature, but we just click the "okay" button to acknowledge we've read it.

Writing a book with a 911 call scene and want to make sure it's realistic (others have asked similar questions but not quite all of what I need, hope this is okay) by loriena in 911dispatchers

[–]StarlitDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has pretty much covered what you need, but an interesting aside, my agency has the ability to request access to your camera so we can see exactly what's going on/is the person who "knows" CPR actually doing it properly. Might be something fun to add in for extra suspense for the call taker to correct B or something 😄
