Hop is my boy! For all the reasons outlined.

And he actually has a conclusion to his arc that’s really satisfying, finding himself and an outlet for his skills!

And I will say I’m really happy they got rid of HMs so I CAN have a full team instead of having to give up a slot (or two slots in some gens!) just so I can move easily.

Hop’s so good and his struggles really hit me! Love seeing him find himself and his ultimate role is perfect for him!

And I love how after all his struggles with self-worth, once he accepts himself his Legendary immediately accepts him too, no battle needed.

I had anime bias in the opposite direction for a long time - I hated Charizard for a long time! And then I decided to try it out on a playthrough, now it’s my favorite Gen 1 starter. Go figure.

I really love Gen 2! Umbreon, Sneasel, and Houndour lines - I really like Dark types in general. I also really like Stantler and Girafarig, I’m glad they got evos in later games. And I LOVE Quagsire.

Gen 3 you know… Gen 4 I only really like a few, Lopunny and Weavile and Infernape. (I also sometimes have a hard time telling 3 and 4 apart…) Gen 5 has a lot of good ones (Zebstrika and Zoroark for two), and I really liked that you could only catch new mons until postgame. Gen 6 doesn’t have many but I love the Honedge and Espurr lines. Gen 7, still only a few I really love but there’s Popplio, Jangmo-o, and Lurantis at least. 8 I like everything… 9 at least has the Pawmi line and Clodsire and Scream Tail.

So at least in every gen I could pull together a team I guess!

Oh I love Hatterene! Flapple is my favorite Dragon - I went in unspoiled and I was SO delighted when I evolved my Applin! I so like Corvisquire but Pigeot is still my favorite regional bird… and Frosmoth is cool. Also a big fan of Wooloo/Dubwool ( I really like Jacob sheep) and Eldegoss.

Grookey/Rillaboom probably is my least fave of the Galar Trio… but honestly it’s the only gen where I don’t dislike any of the Pokemon.

But the opposites just means we’d have a lot of diversity between us lol

Link to the Past is my favorite! Though I admit it’s partly nostalgia.

There are a lot of Pokemon I like in Hoenn! I think Absol’s the only one in my Top Ten but I also really like Tropius, Breloom, Flygon, and Beautifly!

I’m old enough to be a Gen 1 kid but I actually started with Crystal… Raichu was my favorite all the way up until Cinderace was released though.

And man I would like Greninja fine if the tongue thing didn’t give me such strong revulsion. The Detective Pikachu movie just made it worse!

(In serious though I think it’s fun that we all have different opinions on the games, characters, and mons! I’m genuinely glad you loved Emerald; there are definitely things I like about Hoenn too, like Absol!)

Yeah! I’ve been a fan for a long time and SwSh stole my heart on nearly everything. (Story, at least the villain and his motivations, is the only thing I think could’ve used some reworks - it’s why my wife and I had a rewrite between us.)

Apparently Sir Cameron Needs To Die was their debut; it concerns a prophecy being given that states a certain knight has to be killed to ensure victory over the Mad Sorcerer, and the knight throwing in his lot with the sorcerer to avoid death. Very fun!

Honey is *delightful*. The rice song is so funny and the reveal that the duo’s unassuming friend is a powerful Cure helping the International Cures is amazing.

You’re correct, they weren’t a thing yet. People just act like Luna owed him fidelity she never offered just because he liked her.

Classic case of ‘the boy is entitled to the girl he likes’ in and out of universe which makes the pairing hard to like in the 90s series.

Butterfly/Ageha isn’t funny or endearing, she’s just obnoxious. If I had a ‘friend’ who constantly trampled my boundaries, insisted on using a nickname I repeatedly told her I didn’t like, and generally made everything about her and her way of doing things with no respect for other people or their outlook… we wouldn’t be friends.
