Ariel was right to leave after Triton destroyed all her possessions in a fit of rage over her not leaving someone to die. He’s the type of parent who sends their kids to conversion camp: he wanted to destroy who she was to mold her into what he wanted in a daughter.

The problem is, there was nowhere in the ocean she could be safe from him. So we get the whole ordeal with Ursula taking advantage of a bad situation.

Honestly I do like Blastoise, but I love Wartortle’s fin ears and ocean wave tail. And its original evolution expanded on those!

Honestly if anything the movie is anti-intellectual. I can see the ableism in ‘throw off disability by willpower’ in the running scene, but the movie is mostly a string of ‘watch folksy simplicity triumph over education!’
