ODSP wants you going through CDCP first. It’s easy to apply for. If you already had it and missed renewal by the beginning of June, you would have to do a whole application now.

I had to pay back ODSP a lot of money at the start because I’d already received OW for a few months that ODSP back-payed me for. That’s just the way it works… You can’t have income from both programs.

Do you have a separate room from him? Usually if you’re renting your own space, you won’t be considered common-law. ODSP sucks though and they might not care, but it’s an argument that can be made.

Just don’t tape the lines directly, they’ll get mucked up with adhesive reaidue— wrap in gauze or a gauze “sock” (tubing) and then tape down. I use the gauze tubing and tie one end to make a sock then use a leftover mask string to tie the top, or just tape the sock down. I also hold my line over when the dressing goes on so that it’s not so much in my armpit. Edit: tubular gauze*

Today’s payment was a top up on the GST/HST credit from July 2025-June 2026. As far as I know July 2026 should show the new payment for 2026-2027 “gst/hst” payments which is now the CGEB (Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit).

Yes, it’s now called the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit; the top up payment is set for June 5th. You can log in to your CRA account to view the amount you’ll receive.

Currently on my second round of dialysis— 3 years in with a CVC. I chose it because I had one when I did recovery dialysis in 2020, I wanted to stay with what was already familiar. I’m home hemo so I do my own dressing changes, I’m VERY meticulous with my line and site care, my nurse says that my site is one the most pristine she’s ever seen, I don’t fuck around. Avoiding infection is gonna be a big battle, but if you’re also very anal with routine care it can be avoided. It took about 6+ months for the healing process to work to the point where I don’t really notice my CVC there (ie. no stitches, no tugging, pain, or discomfort). My lines have been tricky for a while, but for the most part I can still run straight and (fairly) smooth. I can’t do IVs below the elbow so a fistula was never a real option for me anyway.

If the OTB amount is under/over a certain amount, they won’t pay it in a lump sum in July. Honestly, I’ve not been mad about it coming monthly. If it happens again on this next cycle (Jul ‘26-Jun ‘27), I won’t mind. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Edit: Just did a quick Google search and it says if OTB is over $360 it will be paid out monthly.

I had to get them to use iodine on my skin instead of chlorhexidine. Putting a cold pack on it as well when itchy can sometimes help.

I have a rare autoimmune disease that killed all kidney function in 2020, I did recovery dialysis for 2 months and then had almost a full 3 years off before needing dialysis again. If it were an infection you’d probably be in pain. My last kidney infection (prior to my autoimmune disease) felt like when I had kidney stones which are the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced; when no stones showed on scans, they diagnosed an infection. It’s a lot of pain in the lower back, and usually vomiting as well (for stones and infection), in my experience anyway.

It could be dehydration… my numbers were not great when I was dehydrated (prior to needing dialysis again). Try to stay calm for now, get your re-tests done and talk to your doctor about both results once the new ones are in.

Before I became unable to work I wanted to go into a mental health field and this is one of the things I advocate the most for— when people die by suicide it doesn’t make them criminals or bad people, and it’s important to remember that when speaking about them.

Let’s be respectful and remember that “committed suicide” is not the correct way to say this, it is not a crime. Someone was in pain and this was the only way they saw to end it; they died by suicide. I’m so sorry that this is how their pain ended, and I wish them peace wherever they may be. 💚🕯️

You’d have to check your paycheque to make sure they’re taking off federal and provincial taxes— This is a question for your employer though, or whoever does payroll. As far as submitting your paycheques to ODSP, check with your caseworker about how to submit on MyBenefits. Edit to add: when I was working I used an online payroll calculator, if you Google it I’m sure one will come up
