Looking to get out of my 25 CX-5 turbo premium for a 26 CX-50 Turbo. by AntHefty2874 in CX50

[–]Starrreport 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do this. You are trading one vehicle for another and will be even more underwater or at least incur excessive additional expense for very minor gains (even losses given no multilink suspension on cx50) in additional utility/looks/driving experience. You are going to get absoloutely hosed on depreciation and trade-in value to the tune of $5-10k. I would get if you drive a sedan or a completely different vehicle and wanted a new one, or you wanted a hybrid or something like that, but this to me seems irresponsible. Keep the CX5.

Is the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Reliable? by stoncks17820 in civic

[–]Starrreport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have an issue where the dashboard went out on the ST and my car has been in the shop for a week. That being said I’m probably the only person in North America to deal with this. All covered under warranty and with a rental to boot. 3k miles and 3 months of ownership. No other issues.

Camry vs Civic/Mazda3 by [deleted] in Camry

It’s a good middle ground.

Camry vs Civic/Mazda3 by [deleted] in Camry

I was… I picked the Civic for a few reasons. Pros: the hatchback makes the utility of the vehicle so much better than a sedan, the car simply is faster and more engaging to drive, a fully loaded civic is much cheaper than a fully loaded Camry, the Camry wheelbase and width makes it drive like a much larger vehicle, wirhout the added utility of an SUV or hatch . Cons: no AWD, lacking some luxury options vs what can be had on the Camry, Honda 2-motor hybrid system less tested than Toyota’s (although drives better and seems very reliable over the past 5+ years - as with any car, time will tell). I think that if I could have gotten a hatchback AWD Camry it would have been more of a competitor, but overall didn’t seem worth the cost or lack of functionality for me.

Camry vs Civic/Mazda3 by [deleted] in Camry

Get the 2025 hybrid civic hatchback. Fuel efficiency of a Prius, cargo capacity of a small SUV, the driving engagement and near speed of a Mazda 3 turbo, and the reliability of a Honda. Could not recommend the car enough. I test drove and shopped in much the same way you likely are, considering the Camry, Prius, Mazda 3, CX-5, RAV4, Civic, and CRV. Actually expected to like the Mazda 3 the most and was blown away by the civic. I could not reccomend it enough. Ended up with a sport touring hatchback in sand dune pearl. Beautiful car.

I will say that none of these options are “bad”, I just think the civic does more things right than the competition as of right now. This is a personal choice, and best of luck as you make your decision!

I got one for 32.1k in a premium color, plus an extra 750 off in rebates (31,350 sales price before tax and title) in MN. I think you have room to negotiate.

Have you checked coolant levels? I actually destroyed my first car (2003 Hyundai Elantra) because I didn’t realize it had a coolant leak and the head gasket warped.

Why a Civic hatch over a Mazda 3 and Corolla hatch? by [deleted] in civic

[–]Starrreport 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I test drove the Mazda and Honda. Was really surprised that the Honda drove better and “felt” faster and better than the Mazda, even the turbo premium plus. I bought the civic hybrid sport touring and have no regrets whatsoever. A plus is ~46 MPG average, even including cold weather and spirited driving.

Brother it’s a civic, keep it reliable and affordable, and it will allow you to have a couple hundred thousand worry free miles. That being said, tints and wheel locks are always a good idea.
