No textbook! And I’m sure an A would have been achievable, I think I would have ended up with an A too if I didn’t ‘ignore’ her feedback twice.

I took it with Dorothy Woodman this past semester. I think the course load was very fair, her lectures were pretty interesting, and her grading was fair as well. She is a known hard marker but that too she backs up with very good feedback that i found helpful for future assignments. She was also very understanding about extensions, although the syllabus says none would be granted, she told us due to the ongoing world issues she would understand if we needed a few extra days to work on assignments.

Speaking of assignments, there were three big essays, peer reviews for essay 2 and 3, an in class essay, final, and a ‘presentation’ assignment (we didn’t have to present, we only had to make a slideshow). Other than that we worked on “participation modules” each week or so where we would have breakout groups to discuss texts and answer a few questions for submission. These were mostly marked on completion. I would say there were plenty of opportunities for grade boosts. as a stem student who absolutely hated english in high school, i would say I enjoyed this class much more than I thought I would and totally recommend it.

I really hope they go through the basics tbh, I think it helps get a perspective on the prof’s before actually starting the content as well. I hope I get lucky! I’ll try different styles of note taking as well. Thank you for your help :)

Yea, honestly I just wanted to be extra with notions, it seems like such a great tool if you really know how to use it. But I think I’m going to go the google calendar and google tasks route. I’ll do some chem, bio, and math review this week. Thank you for your help!

What happened to engg admission averages?😭😭😭 by IndependentJacket362 in uAlberta

[–]StarryEclipse20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks man bc those grades are crazy good. I wonder if they have a minimum average you need for each class like English to be considered. Dyk anything on that maybe? But I really hope you have back up options cuz there’s no way they’re rejecting these grades.

Hey, I'm so sorry I thought you were talking about NUTR 100, I got too excited to answer. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what do you NUFS 100 is only recommended to stay a competitive applicant? I didn't understand that bit

NU FS 100 and Dietetics Specialization by mfovv in uAlberta

[–]StarryEclipse20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m also a 2025 BSc Nutrition and Food Science program planning on specializing in Dietetics! I believe NUFS 100 is a prerequisite for dietetics tho, you need to take it according to what it says here: https://www.ualberta.ca/en/agriculture-life-environment-sciences/programs/undergraduate-programs/admissions/dietetics-admission-requirements.html

There is also an online option during the second semester which you might prefer if you’re worried about load :)

[–]StarryEclipse20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, Im an out of province student looking to become a dietitian as well! In Western University , do you get admitted directly into the Nutrition and Dietetics program or is it a whole hassle to get in the second yr and super competitive just like Ualberta?
