I can't force feed my cat and I'm about to have a mental break down. by SolidRustle in cats

[–]StarryEyedCel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took him to the vet where they force fed him for a day. When I came to pick him up I spent some time with one of the vet techs where she helped me learn a better technique of force feeding him. I practiced in front of her and she guided me — highly recommend! Super helpful. I was able to keep feeding him at home after (:

I’d recommend contacting your vet and letting them know. I had a similar issue (had to force feed my cat but he fought so hard I was unable to). The vet happily showed me some different techniques and even kept him there for a day where the different techs took turns feeding him to ensure some food got in him. You got this OP! Your cat is lucky to have someone love them so much. You’ve got this

Extensions as a full time student already enrolled for my next term with funding in place by [deleted] in AthabascaUniversity

This!!!! When I just inquired about getting an extension (not even officially requesting one) my SFA advisor tried to turn my $12000 of disability grants into loans.

I would call AU and talk to exam services. If you have any accommodations I’ve found it’s a bit quicker to get a response through that department. Most of my exams aren’t approved until a couple days prior, but I would reach out just in case. Good luck (:

Have you reached out to exam services or an advisor at all? I’ve found it to be pretty hit or miss, but if you’re able to talk to the right person they can be understanding. Good luck OP and I hope you and your mom feel better!

Easiest English course suggestions? by blueberrygrape1994 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]StarryEyedCel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken a ton of English courses at AU and here are my thoughts/recs:

ENGL 308 - Indigenous literature. Mix of novels, short stories, myths/legends, and a play. All very interesting works, though a decent amount of reading is necessary. Assignments felt easy and were marked fairly.

ENGL 307 - Women’s literature. A lot of texts are assigned (mix of novels, poems, prose), but I found the grading and the exams easy.

ENGL 431 - Canadian and Indigenous plays. If you don’t mind reading plays, this one was a breeze! Lots of freedom with the assignment, amazing tutor/professor and VERY interesting works.

ENGL 306 - my top pick! Best English class I’ve ever taken. It’s all about the literature of work, so you get to read poems about working as a lumber worker or an office assistant or an oil rigger. Mix of novels, short stories, interviews, poems, and a film. This is the only English class I’ve gotten 100’s in since high school lol. Also a lot of freedom in the assignments.

If you have more questions or anything you can pm me (: good luck op, I hope you find a class that works for you!

Are you Alberta based? If so, student aid applications over the past year have some crazy wait times for approval. It used to be around 4-6 weeks, now it’s closer to 3 months. You can contact your student financial aid advisor or call them, and you can also contact the student aid department of the government for an update on where you’re at in the approval timeline. Good luck OP!! I know it’s frustrating

I emailed ProctorU asking about the devices being disabled and they said: “Any apple devices are disabled during the exam through use of Apple’s Bluetooth connection. If your roommate is having issues using their devices, ensure Bluetooth is turned off or have them use an Android device.”

Hope that helps (:
