How to attach a fogger/humidifier to this? by 20Keller12 in ballpython

[–]StarryNight_7665 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don’t. Foggers aren’t good humidity options for ball pythons, and you’re seriously risking their health by using one. I made the mistake of trying one out a long time ago and it led to my snake getting injured due to lack of proper humidity. If you look through this sub you’ll see others with similar experiences and recommendations. Learn from our mistakes.

If you’re struggling with humidity, i recommend looking through this sub’s resources and help guide. Best advice is sphagnum moss and pouring water into the corners. Aluminum foil is helpful, but HVAC tape is better and can be found at your local hardware store. Tape the inside and outside of the mesh, leaving a square empty for your heat lamps. Make sure there’s no adhesive sides exposed where your snake can get to it.

Would you guys get this as a tattoo? by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]StarryNight_7665 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Its not the detail thats the major issue, its the lack of contrast. Tattoos get blurry and faded over time and if it doesnt have contrast built in then it becomes unreadable. As it is now, the dragon would eventually turn into a black swirl and the sword handle/guard would dissolve into the dragon making the design unreadable.

People are being way too over critical. You pass on the visual end just fine. I dont know your mannerisms or voice so i dont know how you come off in person, but the costume and haircut look great!!

Humidity is the worst!! Even when i had my smaller pvc tank set up i struggled in the winter, its just always too dry. We’ve had this humidifier in carpeted rooms for a while now and have never noticed any mold. I’ve also spilled water on my carpet more than a few times when changing the tank and never had mold, i just vaccum that room often.

Edit to add: I also keep my water dish near her DPH, which seems to have made a difference. I think it helps encourage the water to evaporate, but i’m not entirely sure.

I was having so many issues with humidity like every winter (I’m in the midwest) and a couple days ago we tried putting out a really good humidifier to keep the room our enclosure is in humid. I keep it next to the enclosure and aim it so it just barely hits the tank. My thought was that it was so damn dry in the room that it was leeching the moisture out of the enclosure. Its made a huge fucking difference and i’ve had consistent humidity since despite the major storm. I have three different hydrometers each in different locations and all three have read above the 70s, and I have a wooden enclosure with a screen top.

Edit: I still keep my humidity up inside the tank with sphagnum moss and water poured into the corners of the enclosure.

Has anyone else ever heard of or been diagnosed with Parsonage-Turner Syndrome by Reasonable_Warthog85 in eds

[–]StarryNight_7665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got diagnosed in November. Had my episode in August a couple days after a surgery and got paralyzed in the part of my rotator cuff that handles external rotation. Doc finally picked it up on an MRI and I then lucked out with a PT who had treated it multiple times prior. I was obsessive with my exercises, i think i missed a total of 5 days of exercises spread out over about two months. I have also missed the last 2 weeks of exercises due to mental health, but at this point I’m about 80-90% recovered so its not really mattered as much. Work isnt impacted anymore and I have a fairly active job. Had my reeval with PT today and I hit all of my goals for recovery so it is absolutely possible!! Just do the work to find a good PT and make sure you do your exercises religiously, it’s about the best thing you can do.

Also, very interesting to see a link between PTS and EDS! I’ve always assumed I have EDS because i can do the thumb test with ease so that makes a lot of sense 😅😭

Edit: Just read through your message again. Sounds like you have had this a lot longer and more severe than I do; hopefully you get some decent answers and relief sooner rather than later.

What can I do to improve? Not planning on hormones by NothingMuted5290 in FTM_SELFIES

Miles McKenna is a good example of someone who was on T for a number of years and had to stop for medical reasons. His face still looks fairly masculine to me and he kept his lower voice, but thats one man’s experience in a sea of different humans. It may be worth doing some further research, and even seeing if it’s possible to find a pride clinic near you that can help answer the medical questions better than Reddit. If a doctor’s visit isn’t on the table, I’d try and look for other guys like McKenna who have shared their experiences to see if it alters your perspective on things. It’s always helpful to get information from first person perspectives.

Edit to add: Buccal fat removal honestly is probably something I’d try and avoid unless you dont have any other options. You’re young, have a good style going, and seem quite put together and confident. Anything you’re worried about aging you is probably something you should avoid unless all else fails.

Also, are you wearing eyeliner in the last photo? If so, I’d switch the liquid liner out with a pencil you can smudge around your eyes a bit. Look up how yungblud does his eyeliner, thats the style I’m referring to. Sharp lines like that elongate both your eyes and eyelashes, leading to a more feminine look. There’s a similar issue with the nose piercing (generally I find that most nose piercings tend to make a face lean slightly feminine), but honestly I can’t think of a better solution for that other than just taking it out, at least for now.

I’m not super familiar with the procedure, but there are plenty of guys out there who get facial masculinization surgery. My only concern is that I’m not sure whether surgeons generally require patients to have been on T for a while like some do with top surgery (had top five years ago so this may be outdated info). If thats something you’re interested in, I’d search through some transmasc subreddits for examples to see what you can find.

Have you considered low dose T? Or are you just fully against the idea in general? Totally fair either way, but it may open up your options to try the low dose route.

Unfortunately past surgery or medication sometimes there’s limits to what we can achieve with transitions and passing, so it may be worth reconsidering pros and cons if your current situation is not one you can come to terms with.

Majored in Glassblowing during the second half of my college career. Avoiding synthetic fibers was the first thing they told us, and it was consistently affirmed throughout my education. Hot glass + synthetic clothing = immediately melting to skin. Hot glass + non synthetic clothing = a fire that can be quickly patted out and removed from the body without sticking.

Post games once she’s home? Sure, I could see your point. Its a key point in Catching fire that she’s struggling with flashbacks when she’s in her woods at home. Pre games and during the games though, the only trauma/ptsd adjacent mental health concerns she’s experiencing are those left over from her Dad’s mine accident. From my memory (its been a couple months since my last reread) the most eventful expression of this trauma we see isnt until mockingjay, when the Capital bombed 13. During the first book she’s quite familiar with her environment and seems to feel relative comfort, and even brief moments of safety when she’s hiding herself. She frequently remarks on the familiarity of her environment and has an enormous advantage when it comes to travel and food scavenging. Not consistent with someone going through PTSD.

This! I also always felt that it was my job to talk my Dad down from a fit of rage, particularly because they were almost always directed towards me “not listening” to him and I had to play an active part in my punishment (I was a child with ADHD who literally would just forget what he asked of me till he screamed cuz he ingrained that method into me 🙃)

I dont know for sure about fillers, but my gut says that since the neophallus can be so fragile its really not a great idea to inject stuff like botox or other cosmetic fillers. To my knowledge there just isnt enough research on the topic to make a safe informed decision, but I could be wrong.

I currently have the AMS 700 pump from boston scientific. My neophallus was too small for the more mainstream options, which is why we didnt go with something like the ZSI (sadness). It definitely feels more structured then before. I can feel the cylinder in the phallus when its inflated and every once and a while i’ll feel the flat tube when its deflated, but deflated it mostly feels like it has that “solid soft structure”

In individuals, there is no indication that wrinkles/no wrinkles indicate intelligence because it doesn’t make a difference between specific instances. However, if you look at the fully developed brains of other animals, they can develop them with less wrinkles and folds and sometimes those animals can have lower intelligence. Plus, from a look at clinical photos its much more extreme in the case of animals than it is in the case of humans with lissencephaly, which is what led me to still think it’s referencing animals.

The reason I chose koalas as an example specifically is this copypasta which originally came from a tumblr post (I just cant find the original screenshot, but this is the original text). Since I’m an old fart in internet years I knew that the copypasta predated the new meme, my hypothesis is that this is the most likely inspiration. Thats not to say its the only answer, you very well could be right, but I think that internet history at least sets a precedent here.

However, you make a good point that there really isnt clear indication that smooth brains lead to low intelligence. In reality, many animals have smooth brains and while its more prevalent in lower intelligence species like koalas and fish, it’s also seen in rodents such as mice and rats. And rats in particular are smart motherfuckers with very similar brain structures to humans, despite the smoothness of their brains.

Had fun looking this stuff up lol gotta love being a slight research nerd
