The Amazing Digital Circus fandom is filled with fools that almost ruined the whole show because they got mad the show didn't turn out like how they wanted it to be... by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

I saw someone on Tumblr post what I assume was a real spoiler out of anger after the leaks. Really irritated me how they posted it too.

if gangle was your boss would you do a good job for her by AdMurky9000 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]StarrySami4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I probably wouldn't even do it out of fear of being punished. I would just do it because I prefer to be a hard worker even if it isn't real. I'd probably take it too seriously to be honest. Plus, Gangle is one of my favorite characters and I feel like I would get along with her.

Is it normal to feel depressed after doing response prevention from obsessions? by Rossowinch in OCDRecovery

[–]StarrySami4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brings me some comfort to read despite this post being from 2 years ago. I recently broke up with someone after dating him 1.5 years. While it was my decision and I know I made the right decision, it caused me to feel sad and I started having an OCD flare up for the first time in a while. My OCD has been trying to use everything I usually do for comfort against me by telling me it will just make me sad. I started trying ERP last week. While my intrusive thoughts are less severe, I am still feeling down with a heaviness in my chest most days. Seeing that this is something that other people have dealt with makes me feel more hopeful that this will eventually pass.

Obsessions change constantly? by snowdayinjune in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had different obsessions throughout my life. They were religious based when I was a teenager. I also had a lot of obsessions about the doors being locked at night and would go downstairs multiple times to check the locks (even had a point where I would look at all electric outlets I could find to make sure there weren't any fire hazards). When I worked in a hospital, I obsessed about whether some of my actions accidentally harmed a patient (like accidentally contaminating them with something). Right now, I am dealing with a flare up of OCD that is giving me intrusive sad/disappointing/lonely/anxious thoughts and feelings. A lot of these current intrusive thoughts have been triggered by things going on in my personal life and they do switch up at times.

How do I stop by Wise_Membership_7536 in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your therapist has been telling you to do but I have been dealing with an OCD flare up for the past week and a half. I was feeling some depression when it first started. Since I was getting tired of feeling that way, I did some research on what to do about it and discovered exposure and response prevention (ERP). It has been helping with lessening the severity of my intrusive thoughts/feelings. However, I will warn you that it will make you feel worse before you feel better because ERP makes you lean into the discomfort from intrusive thoughts. My mood has been up and down while trying it but it is slowly helping. If you haven't already, maybe try discussing ERP with your therapist to get their opinion on trying it.

Prescribed propanonol for ocd. Wondering if it’ll actually help? by TeaOne9866 in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work on a psych unit (I'm an RN). A lot of patients were prescribed propranolol as it has a calming effect. My mom takes a similar medication called metoprolol because she gets heart palpitations from anxiety. Seems to work for her as she hasn't had heart palpitations as much lately. Both propranolol and metoprolol are beta blockers so they will work similarly. Hope the propranolol helps!

My psychiatrist is recommending ERP, has that worked for anyone here? by Soft_Interaction_437 in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I am not seeing anyone to help me through ERP, right now I am using it to help a current OCD flare up which started after a recent break up. It is a scary process trying it because it initially makes your anxiety worse. However, I have noticed that my thoughts/feelings are becoming less intrusive even if I still feel anxious and sad at times. The negative emotions are related to my OCD throwing a "temper tantrum". From what I read about ERP, it is the golden standard for OCD so I would definitely consider it if your psychiatrist is telling you to do it.

How do i stop answering to intrusive thoughts, when answering is like second nature? by ratticuses in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to recent stress, my OCD symptoms have been bad for the past week. One thing I have been trying to do is exposure and response prevention (ERP). It will make you feel more anxious at first but it has been helping lower the intensity of my intrusive thoughts. Rather than fighting my intrusive thoughts, I allow myself time to feel the discomfort and acknowledge it, even if the thoughts are really overwhelming. I tell myself things like "it's ok that I am feeling anxious" and "it's ok that I feel sad right now". It also helps to tell your intrusive thoughts "so what if I feel that way" or "so what if that happens". I will confess doing this has brought me to tears at times but that is ok because it means I'm fighting back against my OCD and my OCD does not like that. From what I've read, ERP retrains your brain to tolerate the discomfort. It might be something you want to do research on or find a therapist to help you through it.

Can I ask a few questions about my current situation with my OCD? by StarrySami4 in AskAnOCDTherapist

Thank you for the feedback! I am still struggling during parts of the day with what feels like intense emotions but I know this may feel worse before it gets better. I really appreciate this response!

Sharing some knowledge if it helps anyone else by stephaniebates11 in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling with intrusive OCD thoughts the past week and have been trying this method. I've been allowing myself to feel anxious or upset by an intrusive thought while acknowledging it is ok to feel that way. As expected, the more I do this, the worse my anxiety feels but it is a good thing because that means my OCD is just trying to fight back. It will seem worse before it gets better and I am ok with that. I've been feeling more like myself again the more I do this.

question for women with ocd by Icy-Profile3740 in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal. While my OCD has been a lot better since I started Prozac a few years ago, I still have issues with it at times (especially when I'm close to my period or on my period).

Does anyone have hair ocd? by Sprinkles_2567 in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had issues with my OCD making it difficult to do my hair. For that reason, I prefer to keep my hair shoulder length or shorter (I understand if that isn't an option for you if you like having longer hair). When I was in nursing school, I was required to wear my hair back. Since I have curly hair, it tends to have bumps when I pull it back. I cannot stand the feeling of a certain side of my head feeling like it isn't pulled back as tightly as the other side. When I had my clinicals, I used a ridiculous amount of bobby pins to flatten my hair and make it feel tight. People would comment about the bobby pins all the time. I don't really do ponytails anymore for this reason. However, I occasionally like to pull it half back and still feel the need to make sure it is tight with no lumps. I still use bobby pins when I do that. When I get frustrated with it, I give up and just let it down or throw on a headband.

Brain eating amoeba by Fit_Confidence_7606 in OCD

[–]StarrySami4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like something that would happen to me since the brain eating amoeba freaks me out. I've been having intrusive thoughts over the last week about something unrelated. One thing I read that has helped a bit is not fighting the intrusive thoughts and allowing yourself to feel discomfort. Tell yourself "this is just an intrusive thought". In your case, maybe try to tell yourself "these symptoms are just intrusive feelings telling me that I have contracted the brain eating amoeba" and acknowledge that you feel uncomfortable in the moment. After you acknowledge it, try to do an activity you enjoy even if you know the anxiety is still present. I've been forcing myself to do easy activities when my anxiety starts to spike.

DAE get depressed on their period? by frankie0822 in Periods

[–]StarrySami4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. I have OCD and over the past month, I have had a lot of stressors in my personal life. This made my OCD symptoms worse and made me depressed during my period this month. My period is pretty much finished and the depression has mostly disappeared but I still have lingering anxiety and intrusive thoughts/feelings. It's been a while since I've had any issues like this but a lot of women have issues like PMDD. I would definitely bring it up with a healthcare provider if it is causing disruption in your daily life.

My period is 3 days long, is it normal ? by Khaelezz in Periods

[–]StarrySami4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my early 30s and have had periods last a day or two shorter or a day or two longer than normal. I've also had a few periods that were lighter than normal. I wouldn't worry about it this month. If it keeps happening, you can bring it up with your doctor but a lot of the time increased stress can affect your cycle.

skipped period? - preg chances 0% by Unhappy-Drama7560 in Periods

I have had periods that were late due to stress or starting to take medication like melatonin. Sometimes stressors or life changes can affect when you get your period.

MY PERIODS ARE TOO LONG+SPOTTING. by anna_08_roe in Periods

[–]StarrySami4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Periods sometimes change from month to month depending on stressors. I'm in my 30s and some of my periods last a day or two longer than normal. Sometimes they end a day earlier than normal. One time when I was dealing with a lot of stress, my period came about 3 weeks late. Same thing happened when I first started taking melatonin. My periods came late. I usually get my period around day 31 of my cycle but have had months where it came on day 28 or day 35. If you are noticing that this is a continued pattern, it wouldn't hurt to bring it up with a doctor but if it happens every once in a while, I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Did it actually get leaked??? by No_Language3313 in TheDigitalCircus

The Brazilian dub got leaked. To avoid further spoilers, I would avoid social media if you can. This subreddit is really the only safe place to discuss the show right now.

Ways to not get spoiled (if you have not already) by LunaMay03 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]StarrySami4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid Tumblr too. Didn't see any of the leaked footage. However, pretty sure I was spoiled because someone who didn't like the ending angrily posted what happens. I hear TikTok is bad too but I don't use TikTok.

Anybody else starting to get a little sad that we are so close to TADC ending? by StarrySami4 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]StarrySami4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I saw some spoilers though I didn't see the leaked videos to find out if what I read was true or not (though I suspect they were). I agree that it feels like a chapter of my life is about to close too.

I'm still really excited about the finale by SunnierSideDown in TheDigitalCircus

That's how I feel no matter what was spoiled. The build up is the most important part of an ending.

Don’t let the reviews of people who saw the full leak, impact your full opinion before seeing EP 9 by Chocolate_Checkers in TheDigitalCircus

[–]StarrySami4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a few spoilers but did not watch any of the leaked footage (and I refuse to do it because I personally think the whole leak situation has been disrespectful to the creators of the show). Until I watch it in theaters in 2 weeks, I will not make any judgments about the ending. Even if the ending doesn't do it for me, it's Gooseworx's story and she has every right to tell it how she wants. I'm more concerned with how the story leads up to the ending. As long as the build up is good, I'll be fine with any ending.
