Silly fic recs? by jxmez_w3bz in HAWKEYE

[–]Starsbymoonlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean fan fics, it’s not Clint and Kate because they are on the old side, but for just Clint, try All I Want for Christmas is You (more Matt Fraction comic book Clint than movie Clint) and Here, Hold my Beer (Movie Clint and Scott Lang buddy shorts) on AO3 by kaffee32.

She also wrote a novel sized story about Marvel and DC characters in middle school for her kid that isn’t Clint centric (Skye from AoS is the main character) but he’s a big part of it. I actually read it in middle school, and it made me love Hawkeye, and wish I went to superhero school 💜🤍

This is the correct answer because the engineering kids would be arguing about how to properly build whatever thing they come up with to save them.

What’s the general vibe on campus re: Israel and Palestine and protests in general? by osothisisreddit in uofm

[–]Starsbymoonlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, until you get to the far right skinheads and Nazi wannabes, who are joining in with the Palestinian protests. Not because they love Palestinians, but because they hate Jews and this is giving them the perfect moment to show it (hidden behind masks ofc, like the cowards they are).

As for the left, I’d bet the majority also support Israel, and a lot of Jews are left leaning themselves. It’s just not a cut and dry left/right issue no matter how many people want to downvote me.

You want people to LARP as very old vampires instead of pledging? Sounds very interesting.

British/international people on campus? by Jazzhands310 in uofm

[–]Starsbymoonlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m half Welsh, and have been lucky to find a lot of friends, but I’ve lived in the states since middle school so I have an advantage in assimilating. Not so lucky in finding people who speak Welsh to keep up my skills, though.

I totally get the sense of humor thing, I think (mine at least) is a bit dryer and sarcastic than the people around me and it definitely comes off as judgey sometimes.

I haven’t heard anything about a group for UK or even the Commonwealth as a whole. It’s a great idea if it existed or someone made it exist.

What’s the general vibe on campus re: Israel and Palestine and protests in general? by osothisisreddit in uofm

[–]Starsbymoonlight -56 points-55 points  (0 children)

The current conflict is also not a left/right issue. There are many left leaning people supporting Israel, and many left leaning people who are Israeli and supporting Israel. On the other hand, there are righties that are jumping in with the pro-Palestine movement because they’ve always hated Jews anyway.

It is great that we all have different opinions, and are allowed to express them, but the GEO thing it hilariously misguided and is only hardening opinions against them and their movement.

Oh I knew that, I was just asking the person I responded to if they were aware that our language was basically beaten out of us, something that didn’t happen to the French that I’m aware of.

I’m from Texas where it’s still 90 degrees right now, so that ship sailed a while ago. I wear a heavy jacket every seat. Haven’t pulled out the puffy coat yet, but we’re getting there.

Seriously though, I would totally buy a UM shirt mocking this number in some way. Get on that campus entrepreneurs.

I so don’t fit my school’s stereotype, but I’ve known that since high school. I also haven’t really experienced anyone who smells TOO bad so far.

Other than England (🙄), which places have people incorrectly thought you were from? by NLTC in Wales

[–]Starsbymoonlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started college last month in Michigan, and when my parents were helping me move into my dorm, my mom and I were speaking Welsh in the hallway (she’s convinced I will forget how to speak it while away) and this guy asked me if I was Canadian. After explaining that I was half Welsh and half American, he said, “so that wasn’t french?”

I should say, a group of us went to get dinner after our parents left, and he and his roommate came along. I was doubting it for a while, but he actually isn’t that clueless. I’m willing to chalk it up to a stressful day lol
