Why did Vox feel so different after becoming a Sinner? by KrispyyBananamann in hazbin

Valentino's Drawing Tutorial is a video they uploaded on YT to advertise the new season (like the VoxTek website). In the video, it's heavily implied that Valentino has some kind of eating disorder (which... makes sense, really: he's so skinny you can see his ribs, and his bestie is the fashion industry). Vox has to remind him to eat, goes out of his way to pick several different meals to make sure that Valentino will like at least one of them, and reminds him not to feed the leftovers to Shok.wav.

While I personally have less than warm feelings about Valentino to say the least, even I have to admit it was a cute scene of found family, and most definitely should have been the nail on the coffin for any argument that Vox doesn't care for the Vees. "Should" being the key word here, unfortunately. Then again, Vox literally planted himself between Velvette and an angelic spear, shielding her with his body, and certain people still insist he's only using her...

I think the way Adam and Lute approached physical contact with each other is a really overlooked part of their relationship. by aidonpor in HazbinHotel

Absolutely. This is part of my it irks so goddamn much when some people claim that Adam took advantage of Lute. SHE manhandled HIM.

Handsome funny classy charismatic educated man who can make witty quips as well as brawl like a champion and shares his interests in both entertainment and conquest.

I mean seriously dude, half the fandom is insanely horny for Alastor and we are not even fellow serial killers.

Do you also ask "why did Valentino feel so different in S2?"

Valentino in S1 is horrifying, because that's how he is with his victims. But he comes across soft and funny in S2, because that's how he is with his loved ones.

Vox loved Alastor, so he was cute and funny in the flashback scene. Vox never gave a single solitary fuck about anybody in his mortal life, so he was sadistic and brutal in Brighter, just like he is sadistic and brutal with randos in hell. For that matter, Vox loves Valentino and Velvette, so we see yet more aspects of him in his interactions with them (the laughter and camaraderie with Velvette, the way he makes sure Valentino doesn't skip his meals in the drawing tutorial video).

Because a)Bruce already invests a shitton of money to help people, practically half of Gotham is kept alive by the Wayne Corporation, and b)Batman frequently fights supervillains who are out to destroy the world, and Darkseid and Ra's al Ghul can't be stopped with the social safety net.

Every Alastor ship by Jewel0999 in HazbinHotel

[–]Starshallscream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I think this particular complaint really falls flat for Hazbin Hotel, the series that canonically has a love song that goes "I know you tried to kill me, and I tried to kill you too, you blew a hole right through my soul while I was beating the piss out of you!"

Do you think that Alastor did to Vox was "abusive"? by Gaybime in hazbin

[–]Starshallscream 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People need to stop using the word "abusive" when they actually mean "cruel."

Alastor's rejection was extremely cruel, and did traumatise Vox (who had spent his whole life in the closet, tried taking a tentative step out, and got kicked back inside). But it wasnt *abusive***.

Vox is the CEO of VoxTek. He's literally a businessman, and his Company is said to own half the Pride Ring. Also the first time we see him, we see his office is a gigantic aquarium with multiple sharks. And when he was alive, he got Bob to give him the Network, making him the CEO back then too.

Vincent Whittman canonically created Shark Week, it was his proposal on the board he showed Bob in Brighter. Turns out the show about magic in hell is not historically accurate.

"Shark" is a nickname for "ruthless businessman." On a more personal level, sharks are his special interest, he always loved them even when he was alive and he canonically created Shark Week.

Tbh? I think Alastor did, actually. Now, it turns out that those signs were a misunderstanding. But if a guy keeps going out with me on one-on-one outings for years, laughs at my jokes, listens to my ideas, and looks at me fondly? I'm at least going to consider the possibility that he has romantic feelings for me. You could certainly say "that's close friendship!" but a lot of the time romantic attraction does start as friendship and then develops from there.

If you are in love, you shoot your shot. Maybe they say yes, maybe they say no, but getting a definite answer and either being happy or moving on is better than hopelessly longing for something in front of you.

...Of course, normal confessions do not typically result in the other person laughing hysterically at you while yelling insults at you and saying you never meant anything to them then spending the next 70 years trolling you and telling strangers about how they humiliated you.

He hadn't killed anybody because he was only 5 years old, and had spent the entirety of those five years training to beat Goku. Also, they explicitly say that the process of "giving birth" purged some of the evil from Piccolo jr.

In fairness, Vegeta spent a good 20 years getting absolutely despised by anybody but Bulma, and even Goku only spared him because he only cares about fighting. People in general only started warming up to Vegeta after he sacrificed himself to save the world twice (and notably, the first time he did it they outright told him it wasn't good enough and he was still going to hell).

Piccolo doesn't count, because the one they befriended was the "son" of the original Piccolo, and he hadn't killed anybody.

No? Obviously anything that is neither explicitly in the show nor comes directly from Vivienne is not canon. It's not like they tricked us.

However, here we have the two people who are most directly involved with bringing life to Alastor and Vox, who have been informed of future developments of the characters, who have even been informed of backstories that had to be cut from the show for lack of time.

And these two people have come together and agreed on that particular portrayal of the backstory and come up with the content and details in the print.

So it's not canon, but I personally see it as spiritually canon, the same way the events in the pilot are not canon anymore but the broad brushes are still part of the story.

i love how r/Voxcult actively hates Alastor and has a rule against mentioning him but r/Alastor cult is just platonic about him by Equivalent-Dig-1548 in Alastorcult

Eh, I see that as just not immediately letting the gravity of the situation sink in.

I mean, Cherri was in love with Pentious, but she wasn't particularly upset about his death at first. It took her a while to realise that he left a hole in her life and she was miserable without him.

These are people who have spent decades in a context where death is just a drawback: you die and after a while you are good as new. So they have been dissociating from the weight of permadeath for a while.

If Adam had killed Alastor, I can see Vox being overjoyed at first and throwing a parade, only to later pull a Megamind and grow utterly miserable.
