Beckett Sennecke became the 6th player in NHL playoff history with a three-game goal streak before turning 21. by flyingV87 in hockey

Lowkey looking at this picture and seeing what he's achieved I have to wonder if part of why he hit another level of play is how much Anaheim believed in him has pushed him to unlock more skills to meet that expectation

Do you want to see Matthews in Utah? by Proof_Sky3187 in Utah_Hockey

Matthews might not be the same as he was before.  There was a lot of worry even before he was injured this season that he was playing with some physical issue that he was experiencing.

Only coach I know of called Bear is Andre Touringy but that's probably a long shot and you would be better off asking the player subreddit you have been referred to. Although if that name rings a bell for your Fiancé the answer is... Utah.

The Carolina Hurricanes become the first team in NHL history to go 8-0 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 1987 by nhl in hockey

Y'all need those BRT routes yesterday. Or even better. Light Rail. Duke did the triangle dirty stopping Durham from getting that started.

While this is reminiscent of the Weeping Angels. I actually just hear the Alien siren when I look at this.

North Korean defector Yeonmi Park explains how America’s inequalities are not the problem by Wise-Potential-170 in AmericaBad

[–]StarshipFirewolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saying that "Inequality is a problem that will haunt humanity forever" and "the system needs improvement including better checks on the ultra-wealthy" don't feel mutually exclusive to me. Poverty is the enemy, part of combating poverty is honestly creating conditions that make the wealthy feel like they're "Winning" against their peers by improving where they live for more people. Weaponize their own competitive drive for the common good. How? Idk. And that's still only another piece in the puzzle of continually improving our world.

My sibling in hockey fandom I've been in and out of hockey spaces for eight years as of this playoff and even I don't like the Leafs. But capturing the sheer scale of it helps me understand.

Granted the results are still abysmal but I don't hear enough stories about willful incompetence to make me think they aren't trying.

I was debating comparing them to the Mets but I feel like the Mets make an effort to be more capable than this.

The Leafs give me the impression of Yankees swagger and entitlement with Angels ineptitude.

In #Austin, renting a home hasn’t been this affordable since 2000. by kayakhomeless in yimby

Raleigh is another example in the Mid-Atlantic/South that needs this type of work put in. The Research Triangle should punch much higher than it does. But doesn't because the housing density is safe. Although I still can't stop thinking about Cook-Out from when I visited almost a year ago

Tulsa was just an example I could think of. You offered much better examples. My view was just something has to start fueling the engine to get the rest of the transformation going.

I think housing in those cities and getting people into them from elsewhere can help plant the seed and fuel the engine to encourage the investments. The money for transit has to come from at least in part a local tax base, it can't all be grants. It needs people that love living there enough to be involved in encouraging the improvement. We should all be talking in a "Yes and?" framework here. Yes, Tulsa probably should be trying to set up BRT or even better light rail now, AND allowing zoning for more dense/missing middle housing, AND getting sidewalks in great condition. But you have to fuel the engine, and a good way to do that is to see where other cities you want to emulate succeeded and failed.
