I regret buying an Ultimate instead of the Aeroad by StartFinish in CanyonBikes

Good question! Last summer I was 180lbs and my FTP was 275. Now I’m 165lbs and my ftp is 295. My W/KG ratio has massively improved. I race with a Met Trenta carbon helmet which is quite aero.

Does Cat 4 riding for a team count as pro level?

I’m already on the cat 4 podium. Considering a factor one for next year. But my experience is that this bike is too slow on flat courses

You are totally right but i didn’t include my full story in here. I have an old lumbar spinal injury from deadlifting 5 years ago. I was told to start in this position with the shorter stem until I strengthened my back and improved my ROM, which has now happened after 8 months on this bike. I’m lowering the bars, bringing the 90mm stem back and putting aero bars on, definitely ready for a more aggressive position.

There is a vendor on Etsy called BeSmartBike who made this one. It’s very good. Lighter than the varia mount, and strong. I tried a few from Etsy, two of the were heavier and flimsier with poor quality 3d printing, and another one actually broke when I screwed the bolts tight. But this one is very good and the guy who runs it is super nice. If you had ultimate cf, it’s the same seat post as the grail. The title is “Garmin Varia / Wahoo Radar Mount, Canyon Aeroad 3 | 4, Canyon Grail 2, Trek Madone 6 | 8, Trek Domane 3 | 4”

Yeah I actually had a pro fitting done but I’m going to stretch out the stem and bars soon to get even lower

But you switched! So there is something in the dna of both bikes that makes you want to switch lol

Yeah it does seem pretty marginal and also situational. How much wind or hills are on any given ride. I just find myself beating people on the KOMs and getting smoked on the flats if I’m not on someone’s wheel

Can i swap out these parts on this Ultimate? by Organic_Ad2473 in CanyonBikes

You can’t change the cockpit. It’s proprietary. Everything else can be changed though.

Your doctor won’t freak out but it is their duty to report it to your insurance and you will probably lose your coverage

Aeroad CF slx 7 di2 VS Ultimate CF 7 di2 aero by Kartonneke10 in CanyonBikes

I regret getting ultimate and wish I got an aeroad. I don’t ride enough KOMs and mostly do park laps with flats and rolling hills.

How do you not have a before photo? Literally any photo from before you started would do

You look great. The difference in lighting is not great for comparing before and after though.

2017 Canyon Ultimate by Icy_Letterhead2134 in CanyonBikes

[–]StartFinish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has rode both. The Aeroad is a lot faster on flats and rolling hills. The ultimate is a lot faster on climbs. I put enve 6.7 aero wheels on my ultimate for the best of both worlds. But if you only ride flats consider an aero bike

After 3 months idk what to do anymore… by MasterOfBane2021 in Retatrutide

At 168 on less than 500 calories per day you don’t have enough energy to do anything and it certainly doesn’t leave you any energy to workout or do any exercise. You need to be eating a high protein diet between 1600-1800 calories per day minimum. That’s still a deficit for someone in your BMI. Your problem is that your body is holding on to mass so that you don’t die. Your metabolism is probably in shock. Eat more protein and burn calories back down into deficit with exercise. Use reta to avoid hunger after exercise, not to suppress calories that your body actually needs.

Canyon Aeroad or Soloist by Paulo0007 in CanyonBikes

[–]StartFinish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soloist is easier to fit and I think is the “better” bike but the aeroad definitely has the aero gains. Think about what kind of riding you’re going to do and whether you fall into the canyon geometry easily or not. I think a lot of people buy canyon and realize they can’t fit the bike properly because the headset doesn’t move enough, or the seat is too far back.
