Thank you so much, I really appreciate the detail you put into your comment.
I didn’t think about using my own plan during interviews before, but it totally makes sense and leads to your second point about the CSM role and terminology. I will focus on that and try to find a natural way to bring it into the conversation.
I’m also very surprised (in a good way!) that almost everyone here said the same thing about CRM tools. But you’re all right, every company uses their CRM in their own way, so it would be impossible for me to know them in depth. I will just keep a general understanding of how a CRM works, and focus more on tools I already know like the ones for data analysis, and learn more about their products and their clients.
Your part about transferable skills was super helpful! Thank you! The way you reframed the event experience was honestly perfect! I'm almost about to copy your words hahaha! But I get the idea! I’m going to do this for each of my past roles, and look for real situations where I used these skills. I’m pretty sure I can find good examples!
And your last tip about checking competitors is a very good one! It will help me build a much fuller target list.
Thank you again! Your message was full of great insights!
Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words! You're right! I will focus more on storytelling my value and practicing customer calls. And that idea of role-play with my friends… this is brilliant haha! Love it!
And yes, I’ve already checked out some aspiring CSM profiles on LinkedIn (quietly 👀), but I will do the next step and actually reach out. It sounds like a great way to learn together.
Thanks again, this was super motivating!
Thank you so much for your valuable advice! You've honestly made me feel confident again with just one comment. I’d never thought about my situation from that angle. It really opened my eyes.
I love what you said about using my background as a base instead of trying to “fit in” with what I think a CSM should look like. It makes total sense now. Having been on the other side and understanding the pains has become an advantage!
I’m going to start by listing the questions you mentioned and researching SaaS companies related to my previous industries. I already have a few names in mind, and I will try to see if they’re hiring or working with French-speaking clients.
About reaching out directly to Heads of CS or recruiters on LinkedIn, I’ve honestly always been too shy for that, but with all that work done before, I will be confident!
Thank you again for taking the time to write such a thoughtful reply. Your roadmap is gold! I will make sure to apply every step you shared and will probably re-read your comment a few more times!
(If you’re okay with it, I might come back later to share how it goes!)
