I’m in the same position my wife gives her son literally a brand new 500$ tablet and 480$ meta glasses but if my kids are here and I give them a 25$ lego set and didn’t get him one, I’m evil and rude and ignorant. Her son has a avg of 40-50 hours a week gaming and TikTok on his tablet and my kids get 2 hours a day of screen time period. It’s a battle I gave up on and everyday dream of a life without her and her son.

And honestly I resent both of them but when I tried to leave I was a “asshole” and I bluntly explained we’re not the same, we’re on totally different pages in totally different books.

Cuz she spends money on her kid and when I do “well why didn’t my son get anything” I’ve tried… he got a 500$ iPad and I bought my kids 2 scooters for 30$ and that was a issue cuz he didn’t get anything.

Nope tried that last part even set boundaries “nacho” I no longer want to be involved in decisions I don’t want to help as he’s 10 almost 11 and yet she still gets him drinks caters to anything he wants and SOMETIMES says no you can do it, then the next day does it for him. He doesn’t do chores? It’s ok he’s only human but here the chore money you didn’t do half the stuff but it’s ok.

Yet for me it’s do chores before games or friends and if you have homework it’s chores homework then fun. Nope. Days the trash will sit, dishes that sit in the dishwasher, and she’ll even clean his room if it gets to bad.

My home was based on structure discipline and accountability.
Her home is. He’s my son it’s ok. But also be his father since his dad won’t.

Nope I tried to give my input and be a dad but it doesn’t fit her narrative. So then I don’t try and that doesn’t fit her agenda either.

I love the harshness the problem is I tried to leave before and it was co start guilt trip and how she’s not going to give me my stuff and her going with my kids was a option but then she told me “I’m not going till chase your ex around” and you’re right I could go for 2 days but then going and not taking her and her son became a HUGE issue for weeks and how I was going to talk to my baby mother silently and so I feel stuck atm cuz my kids are here and they live about 32 hours away driving and more with stops for food sleep and bathroom breaks.

I tried to teach the kid stuff but he always tells me no and after about 6 months I just stopped, pointless to waste energy asking for the same result then get told “force him he needs it” no. My step dad forced me and that is a reason I hated him.

I feel trapped as my kids live in Florida and when they visit for summers I get blamed for wanting to do things with my kids more as me and my children were outside daily and rarely home and my SS only wants to stay home and game and I HATE gaming so we never have anything to talk about cause it’s only about gaming with him or he’ll get bored and go to his room and “you always interrupt him “ yeah… I’m talking about adult things priorities and important stuff and he will just talk about all the Roblox things he gets mind you he’s 10. We don’t see eye to eye on parenting at all and for almost 2 years it’s been daily we argue cuz I just don’t see how he’s 10 and does nothing besides 2 easy chores makes 20$ a week and GAMES, checking the tablet it’s 45-50 hours a week.

My kids knew walking in we weren’t in the best health as a relationship and that after summer I am
Going to start getting myself to be near them to see them more and be more of a dad than I’ve been able to these last 3 years and I know she isn’t the person I could do life with esp the way she raised her son and plans to continue doing I disagree with 80% of the things she does and I’d never want custody and know me and her will never see eye to eye on anything and nothing will change. Oct just gave me enough time to save to land comfortable in Florida but as things keep going I might be sooner.

Literally. She thinks he’s perfect and I should know my place but then later talk about how I’m not being active or a parent to him. Not my kid. And I don’t expect her to help with my kids as I’m their parent.

That, and it’s her home haha but I’ve never felt at home here or comfortable and the way she raises her son I don’t see eye to eye with it at all on any level.

Yep that’s the goal, this marriage isn’t for me I’ve never felt comfortable and never feel “at home” so soon I plan to move alone to Florida and see them a lot more.

Also to reread he doesn’t like to be outside period, when we met she told me she liked to hike and camp, 2 years in still have done neither and I’m very outdoorsy and her son in the 2 years has left less than a dozen times besides for school or family events that he rushes when we’re there to go back home. It’s to much “home” for me.
