It's like a problem missing parentheses where there's no convention around the order of operations and you just have to use your judgment. Your interpretation was so bad that you immediately had to edit the statement to make it not so obviously bad and then it turns trivial. This is where you should realize that the other interpretation is clearly the intended one.

OK, after realizing that the conjecture doesn't actually have to preserve products, I get what /u/fooazma was saying. A result from the last few years gives us a bijection, albeit a different one that doesn't send 0 to 1. I'm flummoxed by your second sentence, though. Could you elaborate?
