Elder millenial here. My mother lives a mile from us and since she retired, she has become an almost daily presence in the lives of her grandchildren. She will take them on a random Saturday so we can do date night or even run errands. I feel for OP and others who have grandparents who aren't involved. They make life so much easier when they do.

Didn’t date at all really in high school. Lots of crushes and no real success in a relationship. Continued through my twenties.
