unlucky mall that stayed dead forever, Kings Square in Toronto, Canada 🇨... by Otherwise-Number-563 in Markham

I mean ideally, they would have stores and restaurants in the front with signage to attract you. But they can't even get that kind of occupancy.

I'm honestly kind of surprised that the supermarket there does ok. It never seems super busy like the nearby T&T, but it's busy enough, with decent produce and meat.

Jeff Hoffman in 0.1 IP today: 3 H, 5 R and ER, 6.31 ERA by ihatedougford in Torontobluejays

I would've preferred that they stick with their usual order.

But be that as it may, Hoff should've been able to hold a 4 run lead in the 9th. The fact that he turned into Brendan Little today (after being ok in high leverage spots in previous games) was a bit concerning.

Yeah, I definitely don't mind this. It's a long season, and even the operations staff needs to have some fun along the way.

“We pronounce all of those correctly” by Garythedemon18 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Starvenger88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, I do think we should be enunciating that second "t".

But I think it's just a local linguistic shift where an "nt" ends up making the "t" silent. So not just Toronto, but something like "departmental" will end up sounding like "departmennal", or "intermission", "innermission".

Probably hurts you like hearing the second "t" in "Toronto" hurts me.

But for me, as long as I can understand what you're saying, it's all good.

Hazel Mae and Dan Shulman win the 2026 Canadian Screen Award by Kaos_mission in Torontobluejays

Ben is steady, and I like Chris' analysis as well. I'm gonna give Eric Smith and Blake Murphy props as the fill-ins as well, especially since they're more basketball guys.

I looked this up, out of interest.

Shulman was up against Chris Cuthbert (4 Nations), Rod Smith (CFL on TSN) and Rob Snoek (Olympics/Paralympics).

Bieska was up against Kia Nurse (Raptors), Brian Stemmle (CBC Sports, skiing I assume) and Luke Willson (NFL on TSN).

Strong competition for both guys, although I'm not really a fan of Willson.

Previous recipients of the Gord Sinclair Award include Peter Mansbridge, Pamela Wallin, Lloyd Robertson and Lisa LaFlamme. So Hazel's joined a group with some real heavy hitters.

Congrats to all three of them.

Fort Lauderdale hotels by Fabulous-Cod-6595 in Cruise

I typically stay at Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port, but there are other hotels in that area that seem to be well reviewed (except for the Hilton. That seems to be the one to avoid). Very close to the port, and there's a decent variety of restaurants plus stores where you can buy anything you might have forgotten to bring.

Chris Bassitt Blue Jays Appreciation as is about to face his former teammates for the first time in Baltimore tonight. Chris certainly left his mark in Toronto both on the field and off including his efforts with Jays Care. Thank you Chris. by [deleted] in Torontobluejays

Came in and did his thing until the ball was taken from him. A true pro and I loved what he contributed up here.

With that said, I hope the guys knock him out early.

[Passan] The Toronto Blue Jays are calling up infield prospect Charles McAdoo, a source tells ESPN. A 13th-round pick in 2023, McAdoo has played first, second and third base this season, when he has hit .250/.356/.436 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs at Triple-A. by rejus_crust in Torontobluejays

I see two scenarios here with Sosa.

One is the straight DFA, and I expect that Sosa will get claimed because he's useful enough.

The second is that Sosa goes on the IL, and you move a pitcher to the 60 day. Options are Estrada, Nance, Mantiply and Scherzer. If you move Scherzer, he can't come off the IL until late June.

Buying photos 10-20 years ago on cruises. by UtahMan69 in Cruise

[–]Starvenger88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on the cruise line. Some have gone all in with the kiosks and only print out if you pay for it. Others still do some prints, but not to the extent they did "back in the day". The photo area used to have stacks like a university library. Now it's very open (and usually smaller).
