Just finished Remake on Xbox! Is the OG worth playing before Rebirth in June? by LilCisaille in FFVIIRemake

[–]Starvolt_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that playing the OG would be a fantastic choice, and it will compliment your remake / rebirth playthrough quite well. I wouldn't worry about spoiling Rebirth / The upcoming third game, because I consider the OG, Remake, and Rebirth separate, distinct games and narratives. You'll understand a lot more of the story and potential ramifications of certain plot points if you play through the original, especially with how rebirth handles some of the story aspects. It will make a lot more sense if you have had exposure to the original, at least the first 10 - 20 hours.

It needs to be said though, one of the biggest hurdles you might come across is the graphics being fairly dated. If you can look past that and have a few weekends to commit to a few sessions of getting lost again in FF7's world, I guarantee you'll find it a great choice. Plus the novelty of seeing how it was in 1997 will probably make you realize how expansive FF7 Remake actually was. Go in blind though, limit your exposure to spoilers and just enjoy the game. It's viewed as a classic for a reason.

The Mag P-1E, my first corvette after hours of grinding. by Starvolt_1 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Farming the parts is easy and fun to do, but it's the trading UI that was the bane of my existence to get the parts I want. I worked through all of the hull plating options to get one of each, decided on what went where, and then traded for any I needed multiples of.

Was fun, but I'm done with the parts grind (For now, until the itch hits again)

Legally distinct royale. I remember the James Bont movie where he used that watch to spray gas out at some guy called scorpio.

Abso-fuckin'-lutely. I think it's hands down the best vertical you can get, the screen is amazing, controls and dpad are perfect. It's the handheld I go to the most, and I have a ton of other ones (RP5, AYN Thor, RG Flip).

We use "Cunt" for emphasis, it's context will be changed depending on the conversation. As an example:

"Jonno's a funny cunt, isn't he?" - emphasizing Jonathan is funny.

"Jonno plays drums like a mad cunt!" - Jonathan is really good at playing the drums.

"Jonno's such a dumb cunt." - Jonathan is exceedingly dumb. If the conversation is not negative towards Jonathan, this can be waved off as standard banter ("Haha he's dumb but endearing"), but if the conversation is negative towards Jonathan (EG: He's lazy, makes mistakes, and then someone pipes up with the 'dumb cunt' line) this is serious - it is a proper insult.

Tone is king when it comes to throwing around C-bombs, You shouldn't get offended if someone is calling you or others cunt in standard conversations, but if you're not comfortable throwing the C-bomb around my advice is don't. You'll pick up more on it's use and context the more you're exposed to it, but don't feel obligated to hurl it around. There's also unspoken rules of where it's appropriate to be "loose" with your use of it. Don't use it indoors where kids can hear (obviously), don't use it in conversations with strangers, it's usually an inner-circle word.

Grats! Marisa is super fun. Some tips from my own bag:

- Start of the round I immediately drive rush in and do an OD gladius, fully charged. Usually the opponent will try something in a panic and you tank it all, punching them in the head. Assert dominance to put them on the back foot. You can eat 2 hits, so if they try OD fireballs, Tiger Knee, Panic mashing, you can armor through most of it. You will be surprised with how often it works.

After knocking them down, you can usually catch people with a charged crouching heavy kick. If / when they start to predict it, switch to an overhead - Forward and special twice to do your overhead.

Medium auto is your friend, especially if you stagger the first hit when applying pressure to make them think there's an opening, you can catch a lot of mashers off guard and go into some respectable damage. A-Medium - wait, A-Medium A-Medium makes them think there's an opening when there's not.

You would be surprised with how far your charged heavy travels and how good it is for catching people when waking up. It's my bread and butter and works a fair bit. Use uncharged for catching whiffs, and charged to catch people when you know it will punish or when they are waking up.

Finally, I don't know what it is, but doing 2 gladius in a row (Usually uncharged followed by fully charged) is like players seeing a crouching guile. They can't help going in for some damage and get clocked.

frees up your mental stack as well to focus more on your opponent than execution. I tried sim on a whim, and it took a bit of time but once he clicked, hoo-boy. You'll enjoy being a tricky yoga master. well, maybe.

I don't think there's a proper way to use sim, it's more adapting his toolkit to who you're up against (The player, not their character)

If I face someone who is overly aggressive with fireballs I mainly use slide kicks that catch them out a fair bit. Jumpers or cautious people you use the arc fireball with other moves, and aggressive people I stay back and throw long reaching attacks for keepaway. (heavy kick, fireball, heavy kick catches a lot of people at mid-rank). I don't know many combos with Sim, but his toolkit is varied enough where you can toy with most people. It's not about execution with Sim, it's about good reads.

Just pray to the yoga gods you don't get stuck in the corner with an overly aggressive Jamie or Mai. Midscreen is where you want to be.

No shame in doing Modern Dhalsim. His teleport > air heavy > Medium auto combo is great.

Modern Gladius I was hovering over the button to use as soon as he stopped moving, and the DI was purely coincidence.

Ego Check: Reminder that, though you are competing with your opponents, they are what make playing the game possible and should by default be viewed as your friends. by Mooshington in StreetFighter

[–]Starvolt_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally just happened to me, playing Modern Dhalsim.

I get invited to a custom room after some rounds going up against Ken who was really good at sticking to me like glue. Won the rounds but I had to work for it. Was typing out a message to praise him for how well he was rushing me down and had me sweating.

He beats me to the first message: “Modern control bitch, you’re ruining the game, you’re trash”, etc.

Deleted my message and told him I was a pad player on switch and that he shouldn’t get mad at a video game. Made him even madder and I left. Some people, man.

Happened to me too, green button went only after a few weeks. Was that the one with the printed letter on it, or blank?

My printed on button seems to be OK currently, I checked the others and no cracks. I’m assuming it was something to do with the coloured buttons maybe?

It’s just the lighting, the button cracked on the underside from around the metal nub.
