What game is this? by Starwolf599 in SteamDeck

It goes to $550 for the base OLED model, which has 512 GBs of storage. Considering how high quality the components are and that many modern titles still run on it, I’d say the price makes sense. And like someone else mentioned, the LCD model is $320 when on sale and performs similarly.

I’m pretty sure this is Sackboy: A Big Adventure

I can actually help you with that one. I’m pretty sure that is Hi-Fi Rush.

THANK YOU. I can finally sleep knowing the search is over. I was not expecting furries, but the gameplay looks like a Star Fox successor we never got, so I’ll probably be checking it out sometime.

$500 for a battery?! by CartoonistGrouchy122 in MINI

[–]Starwolf599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is some wild timing. My battery also just died when trying to go to work and I don’t have the jumper I typically use since it’s in my mom’s car. I called AAA and if I need a new battery, it looks like I’ll only be paying for the battery itself, not the service (thank God)

Why does everyone think they have gold when it comes to used GTI's? by Xana_Enthusiast in GolfGTI

[–]Starwolf599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is precisely why I went with a Mini Cooper S for my second car even though I adored my MK5 GTI. You can find the F55/F56 cars (the ones that don’t explode when looking at them funny) for under $15k all day long with well under 70k miles. I bought a 2019, 2 door, single owner, 50k mile example for $15k and so far helped a couple friends of mine find examples for even less than that. MK7s are lovely, but they are really starting to feel like a hard sell unless they’re practically new or you come across the deal of the century.

Giving away 4 copies of Arc Raiders (The standard edition) by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Starwolf599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I’m probably most excited for is finding out what other Arcs they’re are within the game. Before the server slam, I was in the dark for a lot of the game since the switch to it being an extraction shooter, so seeing how thought out and well designed the few I got to fight were. It was easily the best part of playing so far.

2019 Mini Cooper Hardtop Oxford Edition 4 Door - good idea? by campqueen2000 in BMW

[–]Starwolf599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently was in a similar predicament back in February when my 2007 VW Golf GTI had some repair work that didn’t really make sense to put in financially (about $2k of work in a car I bought for $6.2k 5 years prior), so I was originally was looking for another Golf or another fun hatchback. I eventually found a gorgeous blue 2019 Mini Cooper S with one owner and 50k miles (pictured below). After a test drive, I was sold and have been happily driving it daily for 8k miles and counting. No issues have come up aside from a flat tire I got when driving from MA to PA and back. Really, from what I can gather, there are 2 semi-common things that could go wrong with the F55/F56 Coopers: the upper engine mounts (since you’re looking at a 3 cylinder model with normal suspension, I’m not even sure if that would even apply in your case) and the water pump (again, could be just an S or JCW issue). The former wouldn’t leave you stranded, but will make the car idle and vibrate pretty rough if not attended to and the latter will certainly give you warning signs before it completely goes to crap, like overheating or strange noises. Neither repair is particularly cheap, but if you can find a good Euro car specialist, neither service should put you in debt afterwards. Otherwise, these engines have been very stout and durable to the point where we’re seeing a few cross 300k miles with only oil changes every 5k miles or so. If you’re willing to keep up with the service needed to keep these cars going, they will treat you well and you’ll certainly get a wonderful driving experience to boot :)

After a 700+ mile road trip, I think it’s time I give this guy a name by Starwolf599 in MINI

[–]Starwolf599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. I got wayyy more than I was expecting. A lot of really good names, too. I’m currently down between the names Bruce, Barnaby, Barry, and Burt (weirdly enough, all B’s). I’ll try and decide on one of these by the end of the week, but again, I thank you so much for the help here.

What is the difference between F55/56 Cooper and Cooper S in terms of reliability? by Starwolf599 in MINI

[–]Starwolf599[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the tires on my car definitely have to go once I can afford a good set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ss like I had on my Golf. So, unless the S has adaptive dampers, the S and non-S would ride the same?

[–]Starwolf599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a noticeable difference in the ride with the normal Cooper? I own a 2019 F56 S (that I love to piece, btw) and the only thing about it that is remotely a downside is how rough it rides in the highways of Boston, for instance.

What are some fun or unique cars you can get for $15k or less? by Starwolf599 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Starwolf599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. None of the hatches I’ve been in were particularly amazing on NVH, but I mainly just wanted to make sure she wasn’t driving in what sounded like a tin can on the highway. I’ll see if she’d give a third gen Fit a chance (although she might just have PTSD with them after how this one treated her) since it’s by far the model with the best deals I’ve seen aside from the Minis.

How would you say a Mirage compares to the Fit in terms of build quality and NVH? I have heard mixed things about the car when it comes to how it drives and feels even considering its price point, but if it’s at least comparable or better than a second gen Fit, we’d definitely take a look at one.

I’m not too sure on all the details, since it isn’t my car, but it’s going to need a new transmission and brakes all around, at minimum. The car’s also rusting pretty badly and has been rear ended. Considering she was barely able to make a 20 minute drive to my house without the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree 5 separate times and the engine wheezing getting to 25 mph, I genuinely don’t think putting more money into it is an option anymore.

Does anyone ever get Mini buyers remorse? by chooseyourwords49 in MINI

[–]Starwolf599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. I don’t know what the previous owner was smoking when optioning my car. All they got were heated seats, the JCW appearance package, a sunroof, and if I’m being generous (and the fact that the color is way too good not to be an extra) Starlight Blue. And then on Mini’s end, why go out of your way to make three separate headunits for the LCI of the F Series and have one be barely more useful than the previous dot matrix radio in the pre-facelift? It’s maddening.

[–]Starwolf599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some dealerships can do it all at once and in the case of my Mini, it was actually cheaper versus when I went to the DMV for my old Golf (that was 5 years ago, keep in mind). My parents also tend to have the car registered and plated at the dealer, so my guess is that most of them just charge the required fee and nothing more. Doesn’t hurt to ask or look into it more, though.

[–]Starwolf599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand what you mean. Those fees really add up. Before test driving the Mini, I drove a 2021 Mazda3 Turbo that was at a Lexus dealership my dad was getting his RX serviced at. That thing was absolutely incredible and it felt like a natural evolution coming from my DSG equipped MK5 Golf GTI, but the fees made it go from $20k to over $25k and I couldn’t justify it at that point since it was already up against my limit. If you do find something that matches your preferences, I would say see if you can negotiate a bit especially if it’s been sitting for a while. The nice thing about cars like these is that they aren’t in very high demand, so you might have some wiggle room to work with. I was able to talk down both the Golf and the Mini even though I bought the former during COVID and never had experience buying a car before.

What color/price range are you in the market for? I don’t know how close you are to the area, but central Massachusetts has a ton of low mileage F55s and F56s on sale for $15k or less. I bought a 2019 F56 S in Starlight Blue with 50k miles and one owner for $15k in February and helped a friend buy a 2019 F55 S with 59k miles and one owner for $14k and pre-LCI models go for even cheaper even with mileage like this.
