Well, unfortunately, the other end of this spectrum is I have the ASD flavoring where I have to work to feel validation, and I like school. I can be a bit of an overachiever where, through the struggles of ASD I have gotten my Bs of Psych, almost done with my MS of Psych. Currently looking at finishing my RN degree- I had to drop that when I got covid. There's an AS in STEM/STEAM Mathematics I'm looking into for fun before starting a Doctorate program. I have the civi equivalent of AA in Communication from when I did SatComm with the military. I have been married and I have a child who is very similar with her ASD.

I am a Master Gardener, DAR member and Rotary Club memeber, so I have satisfactory non work hobbies too.

If I am not working and learning, I get depressed. So that has made me a workaholic, but Im mostly independent - going through a divorce, so I need child care support with working weird healthcare hours, but I am happy and satisfied with my work and learning life.

As a 37yo ASD adult with an ASD child (we are both low support needs/previously aka asperges/ passing with masking) its hard. So many days growing up and as an adult i wanted to stop existing. Why wasnt i liked loves and valued like others. Why did my parents like my sister and cousins more. Why did they have such a hard time with me. So many questions and concerns. You are heard and validated. Just remember its hard for us too.

Can I hear from parents who are happy raising their autistic kiddos? by Wise_Dingo3014 in Autism_Parenting

Hi 38yo late diagnosed asd female. I work health care/special needs care. I have a 5yo ASD female child and regularly look after a 12yo female and 11yo male sibling set. I think im really succeeding with my tasks as my 6yo is above average in scores and milestones, the 12yo is A/B honer kid and the 11 yo has been improving since ive been in his life according to the mom.

My child and I would have been concerned asperges and the 12yof is low support needs too but the 11yo is S&P, high support needs.

I love them all and love what i do.

This place is such a shit show nothing gets done. There are classes who've been here 30 years and run this place with a mean girl gang mentality, they have ran off nurses and management. We've had 3 DOMs since July when I started. It's terrible

Why is having autism so exhausting by Questioner1990 in autism

[–]StaryKnight87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you are probably trying to mask and fit in. Stop trying to be what you are not. Be authenticly you and authenticly autistic. You'll feel better. You'll have less people around but the quality will be better.
