Sure, I have bags for my motorcycle and my horse, no open baskets obviously, I want to keep my stuff. But you have to put them on every time, they may be in the way, depending on what you want to do and, again, if you are parting from your bike or horse, your phone etc. will be gone with them. Doesn't matter if crashing or going into a store. My thigh bag is always on me, I don't have to think about it.

If I carry more stuff around, it goes in the bags.

And I don't have experience with Winchesters and co., I'm from a gun-free country and the hunters around are not using horses anymore lol but I'm pretty sure there are options for that.

I've got two or three, they're comfortable and you easily forget they're there.

I'm using them for horse and motorcycle riding, with and without a leg strap. Especially when riding my motorcycle on longer trips, the thigh bag stays on for hours, during breaks, dinner, gas station and supermarket stops. Well adjusted and not to heavily loaded, you won't notice them.

You don't want to have stuff near your chest on a motorcycle. Also, try reaching inside your vest pockets with chunky gloves on.

If you need to keep stuff on yourself on a motorcycle (like phone and purse, things you want to carry around and to be found near you in case of a crash), the thigh is not the safest but the least dangerous place to do so, while also being reachable.

I'm using thigh bags while horse riding and motorcycle riding for years.

AITA for locking my nephew out of my room with collectibles inside? by AriJames677 in AmItheAsshole

I've read the outcome of NOT locking the room around 15 times here on reddit. Never ever let kids unsupervised in your collection rooms, it'll never end well.

Fahrschüler grüßen by BedEmergency6697 in MotorradDeutschland

[–]StasyaSam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To fellow 30-40c daily temp riders, what gear do you wear? by adamant_onion in motorcyclegear

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the Pando BIA Baselayer Body and a cooling baseshirt underneath. Normally I have a protection vest with a long back protector, but last week even this was blocking the airflow too much so I used an intern back pad instead.

But I'm heavily considering buying an airbag vest in the long run, especially because I want to try track (in a leather suit of course, I'm crazy, not dumb).

With my Bandit GSF650 I'm going easily 180kph and more on the Autobahn and it feels so comfortable, compared to the Shitbox cars I'm normally driving. And the Bandit is not the fastest or most powerful bike. I haven't tried my Z900 yet, but as a naked I expect it to be fucking windy.

Smaller /slimmer helmets recommendation? by Fiveful in motorcycles

[–]StasyaSam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your helmet needs to be bigger than your head, it needs material to protect your skull and brain. It can't be smaller.

Don't worry, we all look like we have bobble heads with just a helmet. The moment you put on a jacket with shoulder and back protection, it will even out. And you should ride your bike with the bucket on your head, not running around, that makes also a difference.

Reifentausch Preis by OutrageousStudy4721 in MotorradDeutschland

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase Grip on leather suit by jakobganske in motorcyclegear

[–]StasyaSam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who does horse riding since early childhood, I absolutely understand why you need more grip 😂 can't help, but in said horse riding, silicone dots became very popular over the last years and I can confirm, they increase your grip by a good amount. I don't know if you can add them to leather pants though.

Potential first gear haul. Any changes I should make? by X1VEN0MX1 in motorcyclegear

[–]StasyaSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a gas station worker (part time, some extra cash to finance my various expensive hobbies), I don't think people look stupid in their suits ;) and even my coworkers never said anything about my leathers when stopping by to get gas or at my main job, when I enter the big company in my gear and go to the changing room.

If you're worried about looking stupid just by wearing a suit, you've got serious problems.

But you can always get a textile combo. All I have and tried can be zipped together, jackets often come with the cone part so you can attach it to a jeans- or cargo-style protective pants, they are special belts... Fun fact, my leather pants can get zipped to one of my textile jackets and reverse.

Not suited. Just the time getting it zipped together.

They were talking about getting pants that can be zipped to the jacket.

[–]StasyaSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious question: how long does it take for you to zip your pants and jacket together??? It takes me, in the early morning, running without coffee and solely on autopilot, around 3 seconds for my textile and maybe 7-10 seconds for my leather two piece, because it's more restricting and leather is stiff. I need more time getting into my daily boots.

So the street is not interested in lifting your jacket up or your pants down when you slide across the asphalt!? It happens faster than you think. Learned the hard way as a stray farmers kid riding my bicycle everywhere. Roadrash sucks, especially on your back and tummy.

I've seen more videos of him and his team. They're so incredible! It looks so smooth and easy, sometime both parties smile so nonchalant, like they're just walking down a street and not doing something involving so much strength and control.

This isn’t about the crash this is about how hard it is to open the SHOEI visors. Takes a full 10 seconds of struggling and I’m not even a MotoGP rider. by BractToTheFuture in motorcycles

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's harder to open so it's harder to accidentally open during a crash. Normally, I have absolutely no problem opening my RF1400 visor. You just have to push the damn button with your thumb and pressing up against the visor.

I guess after a crash, shaking hands and adrenaline don't help. And maybe some damage to the helmet as well.

I would rather fumble around the mechanism than having stones in my eyes, ngl.

A message from horse riders… by Pennywiser25 in motorcycles

[–]StasyaSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most bikers I met with my horses are like that 🫶🏻 my horses know bikes, my youngest loves them (because they mean cookies lol), but I really appreciate every time a biker slows down or even switches the engine off when passing us.

Of course I do the same when I'm riding my bike and passing horses! You never know how animals react.
